After a seven-hour journey through the city streets, Inter players and coach Simone Inzaghi spoke, shouted and sang from the terrace overlooking Piazza Duomo to celebrate their 20th Scudetto. The Nerazzurri started the trip from San Siro at circa 16.00 local time, following their 2-0 Serie A victory over Torino, and it was scheduled to take circa five hours. There were so many fans lining the streets that the two open-top buses were only able to crawl along at a glacial pace, eventually making it to the meeting point in Piazza Duomo at 23.00 local time, where 100,000 supporters were waiting ..read more

Vincenzo Italiano hopes the 5-1 demolition of Sassuolo can boost Fiorentina’s self-esteem going into the Conference League semi-final with Club Brugge. The Viola had been stuttering recently and were knocked out of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Wednesday in a 4-1 second leg defeat to Atalanta after going down to 10 men. They shrugged that disappointment off with this 5-1 demolition of Sassuolo, as Riccardo Sottil, Lucas Martinez Quarta, Antonin Barak and a Nico Gonzalez brace completed the rout. “There are still some negative moments during matches where we struggle, but I also see a team tha ..read more

Inter director of sport Piero Ausilio confirms the arrival of Piotr Zielinski and Medhi Taremi, but ‘the plan is not to change this team too much.’ The Nerazzurri have been travelling through the packed city streets for over six hours now on an open-top bus, meaning the supporters waiting in Piazza Duomo have still not even glimpsed their heroes yet. The directors were not on the buses and decided to wait for them at the iconic meeting point, but there are already fireworks and someone has even painted a cow blue and black. All eyes are now on the future and Ausilio has already been hard at wo ..read more

Inter Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello assures fans celebrating the Scudetto that ‘the ownership is solid’ and Steven Zhang will remain in charge. The Nerazzurri are going through the city streets on two open top buses to mark their 20th Serie A title, which was earned with five rounds to spare. “This is truly the party for Interisti and seeing these huge crowds come out repays us for all the work done over the years,” Antonello told Sky Sport Italia. “My time at Inter started nine years ago, we laid the foundations and Beppe Marotta gave a boost to the sporting results. Atalanta remain in the race for a Champions League placement in Serie A, but Gian Piero Gasperini admits winning the Europa League is La Dea’s priority. The Nerazzurri beat Empoli 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on Sunday, four days before the first leg of the Europa League semifinals. Atalanta’s direct rivals Roma, Juventus and Bologna all collected draws, so La Dea keep climbing up the table. “Today’s results were favourable to us, but we must look at our path. If we are able to get as many points as possible, the position in the table will change accordingly,” Gasperini said at a post ..read more

Football Italia
by Lorenzo Bettoni

Napoli coach Francesco Calzona wanted to avoid a Roma goal from a corner kick and replacing Hamed Traoré ‘wasn’t enough’, but at least the Partenopei showed ‘pride and quality.’ Napoli were held to a 2-2 draw by Roma at the Stadio Maradona on Sunday. Tammy Abraham scored a late equaliser from a corner kick, but Calzona had tried to prevent it with a substitution only a few seconds earlier. The Partenopei boss replaced Traoré, who had been introduced less than 20 minutes earlier, with Leo Ostigard, but Napoli still conceded from a corner. “We were aware of Roma’s strength from set pieces, so I ..read more

Inter and Milan have mathematically qualified for the Champions League in 2024-25, but the race for the other three spots is getting tighter than ever. The Nerazzurri had already secured the Scudetto and their role as group seeds in the new expanded tournament, but Milan have today also managed to book their ticket to the UEFA competition. Despite the 0-0 draw with Juventus on Saturday, today’s results proved enough to send them over the line, as both Bologna and Roma were held to stalemates by Udinese and Napoli respectively. Tammy Abraham told himself to get in the ‘right place’ before scoring a late equaliser for Roma against Napoli and admits he’d love to end Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten run in the Europa League semi-finals. Abraham’s first goal in 2024 helped Roma secure an away 2-2 draw at Napoli. The English striker had returned to action earlier this month in a derby della Capitale against Lazio after suffering a knee injury in June 2023. “To come here it’s never an easy place. They are the team that won the title last season. It’s always difficult,” Abraham told DAZN after scoring against Napoli. “We didn’t ..read more
