Easter, Dyngus Day and some preparations for next weekend’s Eclipse Festival Weekend post. Welcome back, Festival Fans. This is one of those weekends – particularly Easter Weekend – where there’s not much going on in Ohio… …except for Dyngus Day (Review) on Easter Monday. So if you’re not prepared for that, find some squirt guns and pussy willow branches… …maybe some beards… …and prepare to fill those bellies with pierogi, kielbasa and plenty of beer! It is a fun time a Cleveland. Promise. Now, if you’re traveling out of state to see family/friends, you can always check the Festival Guides ..read more

Plenty of Shows this St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, plus some Maple and the Blues. Hello, Festival Fans. It’s St. Patrick’s Day Weekend and, while Ohio doesn’t have any St. Patrick’s Day Festivals, there are tons of celebrations throughout the state and well-known parades in Cleveland, the city of Dublin, Cincinnati, and Mahoning Valley/Boardman. Also, traditionally on March 15, the buzzards return to Hinckley… …but the celebration will be next weekend. This weekend, in terms of Festivals and Shows, opportunities are few for the former and great for the latter. There are only a handful of festiv ..read more

Maple Festivals, Vendor Shows, and a bit of Beer and Wine. Hello, Festival Fans. The flashes of warm weather have really helped me remember what Spring and Summer are like. I’ve taken longer walks, did a little landscaping and even got to go to the Loveland Frog Festival last weekend, which you can read about HERE. It’s really made me miss festivals. While things don’t start to kick off until April (check out the Solar Eclipse Festival Guide for the first weekend of April), this weekend is a pretty impressive one. There are plenty of Maple Syrup Festivals going on in cities like College Corner ..read more

Burning Snowmen during the Brite Winter: Some great winter festivals this weekend! Hello, Festival Fans. Just last weekend, after recovering from the shock of USA Today mentioning my Eclipse Festival Guide in their article (found here), I was thinking to myself: February is almost over. When is the Brite Winter Festival this year? Well, I’m happy to say, that I now realize that it is this weekend… …the same weekend as the Burning Snowman Festival in Port Clinton. Both festivals are fun with different approaches to winter. While Brite Winter (Review) tries to embrace the winter and use it as ..read more

Ice Sculptures, Beer, Shows and the Solar Eclipse Festival Guide. Hello, Festival Fans. For many of you, Lent has started and you’re probably still digesting some paczki as you read this Hope you didn’t give up festivals in your Lenten intentions. This week is mild, festival-wise, as there are only an Ice Festival (Review) in Medina and a beer festival called Mittenfest in Cincinnati. The former is a nice excuse to visit downtown Medina and explore the square for ice sculptures while checking out local businesses. The latter is a ticketed event with craft beer, food, DJ and more. If neither ap ..read more

Chasing away the Winter. Calling in the Eclipse. Hello, Festival Fans. Before I start about this weekend’s festivals, I would like to make a Special Announcement… …about the Eclipse. I am actively searching for all Eclipse-related festival events to put on the Ohio Festival Guide. Events should have music and food at a minimum and, hopefully, also have non-food vendors and other fun activities. So please let me know what events that either you are putting on or that you’ve heard about in your community. If you don’t have the details posted just yet, get back to me when you do. But please hurr ..read more

Ice Sculptures, Beer, a Carnival, and many Vendor Shows this Groundhog Day Weekend! Hello, Festival Fans. I’ve been continuing to update the Festival Guide and have just finished going through September’s festivals. As I continue to confirm festivals, I copy over those festivals associated with the Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati Pages. It may take me a bit to get through October, but, once I do, I will take a pause and start the process over again as I continue to create weekly posts for you to let you know what’s going on. **** As we enter February (it’s a leap year, so you get an extra d ..read more
