Best courses for vba, sql, python etc.??

I'm in my final year of graduation and want to add on to my skill set. Mainly want to learn vba, sql, python and probably advanced r and excel since I only know basics through cs and cm. Could you suggest some legitimate courses that are actually approved by employers? Also, is it really necessary to assist on projects or show some practical work before I start applying for jobs? I'm afraid I won't be able to do this due to time constraints so will it still be okay if I don't include projects on my resume? submitted by /u/Easy_Preference7817 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Do Companies Sponsor CFA Exams?

Almost done with FSA and want to pursue a CFA designation. I understand I likely need to present a business case for my company to consider reimbursing my CFA exam fees, also I don't expect any study days or salary increases. How common do companies sponsor this? Mostly interested in other insurance companies and roles that don't deal with asset management. submitted by /u/Death_Planner [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Rotation advice

I’m an ASA deciding between Pricing and Valuation at a Life Reinsurer in Canada and want some guidance. I have very limited work experience in both roles. I am currently leaning towards pricing because it sounds more "exciting", but I don't have enough experience in either to be sure of that. However, I do also value WLB a lot and want to have enough time to study for exams. Would appreciate any guidance or advice to help me decide! submitted by /u/UWboi [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Was thinking about lumping in NJ and TX and calling them the Sinister 6, but not sure if that’s fair to them since they’ve never been nearly as bad in my experience submitted by /u/throwawayff96 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I am signed up for April APC 457. I completed the online module and submitted my id. The deadline for doing these preliminaries before the virtual event is tonight 4/18. Why am i still getting an email for incomplete module? I finished these as at 3/31 Anyone take the virtual APC and can offer some wisdom? UPDATE: After an email with screenshots they said it was an error on their end! submitted by /u/actuarially_actuary [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
