Despite its broader green and health credentials in terms of ecological transport and wellbeing, the bicycle industry tends to have short product life cycles. This Is particularly true in the ‘Enthusiast’ segment where fashion and perceived performance gains are key selling points. Cycle Exchange aims to address this by re-inventing the way we look at used bicycles and parts. Cycle Exchange have been trading for 7 years and have more recently moved into mainstream retail as a genuine alternative to the traditional retail outlets. Their mantra is simple ..read more

We are very pleased and excited to announce our very special partnership with the Big Plastic Pledge. We were inspired by the Big Plastic Pledge’s foundation and story, so we are now working together to become the most sustainable event in the World. BPP was found by Hannah Mills, an Olympic gold and silver medallist, a sailor and an IOC sustainability ambassador, who first hand saw the devastating effect plastic pollution was causing. “Sailing has taken me all over the world and for almost 2 decades I have noticed plastic in the oceans, mainly when it gets stuck under our boat and s ..read more

It’s All About The Ladies…

Being the Event Director for ToC and female, I would love to see an increase in women’s joining in and taking part in the sport, whether it be with the family on a weekend’s bike ride or going the whole-hog, competing at a high level and racing. I have seen and have spoken to many women over the years and they’ve said that mass participation events where they’re riding alongside men can be quite intimidating and feel quite unsafe. The number of women taking part in ToC over the last 5 years has been a consistent 12%, but why can’t we hit 20-25%? So, with all of this in mind, I thought ..read more

Tell us a little bit about yourself My name is Alison Stagg and I am 55 years old. I’ve been married to Stephen for 33 years and have one daughter, Rebecca and they have both been my greatest supporters throughout this last year. I work for the NHS as an Anaesthetic Practitioner in our local Hospital. Having competed in Triathlons for many years at both national and international level, winning medals in my age groups, I took the decision to retire from triathlons as the running side was giving me too many injuries. Cycling was always my best discipline, so i took it up as a standalon ..read more

Tell us a little bit about yourself My names Karen but I am better known by my nickname Bob. I have been road riding for just over 4 years. I love riding outside but equally love zwift for the winter riding. I found cycling through providing support vehicle resource to a charity bike ride vowing that I would ride the following year. Slowly, my cycling improved and I was sweeping for a virtual group ride on zwift and things were great. I registered to do ride the night and ToC. And then my world came to a massive great big stop. In November 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Lite ..read more
