In February 2024, the City of Chicago awarded Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park and Lutheran Campus Ministry a $233,880 Chicago Recovery Plan (CRP) grant. The grant, a part of the CRP’s Climate Infrastructure Fund, will support the cost of a solar project to transform Augustana’s energy use. You may have noted two delightful prints from noted Japanese artist Sadao Watanabe in Augustana’s Narthex and our collection of smaller prints mounted in the Gustavus Adolphus Room. This Holy Week, we have three additional Watanabe prints displayed in the Nave, given to Augustana by Marnie Rourke and Ruth Patterson. These prints center on Holy Week themes: Jesus washing of the disciples’ feet, the last supper, and Jesus’ carrying his cross. Please take a moment during your Holy Week journey to view and reflect on these remarkable pieces ..read more

We remember the events of Jesus’ last hours by washing feet, as Jesus washed his disciples’ feet. We eat the Holy Supper, as Jesus ate the Last Supper with his disciples, and we strip the altar, as the soldiers stripped Jesus. Good Friday Friday, March 29 ..read more

The palm branch had, before Jesus’ time, come to represent victory, triumph, peace and eternal life. By entering Jerusalem on a donkey, Jesus contrasted his Kingdom of God with the Roma ..read more
