But do we honor the player who does these things sporadically, on occasional, or do we honor the one who does them consistently, habitually? Clearly the latter ..read more

A Book for All Men – Confessions
The Catholic Man Show
by Adam M.

Confessions – Saint Augustine of Hippo translated by Anthony Esolen from Tan Publishing The Confessions is one continued and coherent prayer, a profound profession of faith, and a plea for more, ever more wisdom, ever more love. It is artistic in its whole conception, in its parts and their arrangement down to the merest sentence. It is closer to the Gothic cathedrals that would grace Europe eight hundred years later than to anything that you or I might write about ourselves and our lives. —- Anthony Esolen Anthony Esolen understands the importance of art and beauty. “So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16 Don’t be God’s vomit. Many men fall into the trap of being apathetic to their vocation. They have grown complacent in their state in life and repeatedly delay in responding to God’s constant calling to share in the great adventure of the Christian life. Perhaps you know someone who is lukewarm? Maybe this describes you? An early twentieth-century French Dominican friar named Fr. Reginald Garrigou-Langrange, probably best known for his spiritual theology, provides four means of escaping the ..read more

Book Review: Four Witnesses: The Early Church in Her Own Words Author: Rod Bennett Publisher: Ignatius Press History has always been a struggle for me. Don’t misunderstand me; I enjoy learning about history, and I love great storytellers, but somehow I have a hard time remembering history well. I get about 75% of the story, but I tend to forget or misunderstand about 25% of the facts. In some fashion, the details tend to get jumbled up in my aging brain, and referring to the book is necessary. I have a deep respect for the men in our local apologetics group that can rattle off Catholic history ..read more

Dillon, DD Catholics have always known that Satan wages a constant war against the Church.
