I’m Carly! I started this blog as a creative outlet during my freshman year at Georgetown University back in 2008. I share a little bit of life, a little bit of style, and a little bit of everything in between. Anything that I’d share with my close friends, I share here… whether it’s a trip I just went on, a great sale that can’t be missed, a documentary or book I loved, a personal..

Who here remembers my college graduation campaign with Kate Spade? It feels like a lifetime ago, and in a way, it was! I’d still wear that dress today though. I can hardly think of anything more classic to wear than a little white dress, and this time of year, there seems to be endless options for graduation and wedding season. I ended up getting a little carried away with this roundup of cute white dresses…. Make sure to scroll down for a lot more of them….

Had such a good week with the boys– especially this weekend. Getting out with both boys by myself was a major goal of mine and I have to say, I’m so glad I was on top of this fear from the beginning. I’m sitting down now to type this and realizing that I don’t even think twice about getting out and about with both. Mike was out of town for the weekend so the boys and I had ourselves a time! We went out to breakfast, played at the park, went to a train exhibit at a local museum. On Sunday, I took them to the gym with me (Rory’s first time!) so I could get a little workout– and quiet time for my ..read more

I realized I never shared these photos on here and it ended up being the perfect timing to post them, because there’s a relevant story behind them. One of the best parts about being a mom is getting to create all the fun magic for my kids. I love it. But…. I also think it’s gone a little too far. I hate to bring the energy of ~social media ruined it~ however i do think that’s the case here. The bar for “childhood magic” just keeps going higher and higher.
You can’t just take your kids on a vacation, if you want real magic you need to pack a suitcase for them, wake them up and tell th ..read more

One of the highlights of this week was the eclipse!! I felt like because we weren’t in the direct path that it might not be super special, but it blew me away! Mike and I went outside for it and then a couple of our neighbors came over to watch with us and we were all in awe. I think my favorite part was how it felt like a community event… schools here were let out early and there was definitely a bit of a collective buzz around town.
Here’s what has been on my radar this week:

Is it just me or has J.Crew Factory been killing it recently? They’ve had a ton of super inexpensive winners like this scalloped active skort and so many more I linked below. It inspired me to look through a few of my other go-to affordable clothing brands too, leading to this pretty sizable roundup of affordable fashion under $50. Just in time for a spring and summer wardrobe refresh!

Words can’t describe how crazy it feels that it’s already time for another week of outfits. Time is flying. We had a great week last week, too. I hosted an event, we had a great family dinner in town, my in-laws had us over for pancakes this weekend. Oh and we had an earthquake and a 90% eclipse. What a time to be alive.
LAST WEEK’S WIN: I hosted a needlepoint class with Penny Linn this weekend in my office space. It was such a dream to be able to host an event like this. I love sharing needlepoint with everyone. It makes me so happy when someone else falls in love with it.

Better late than never for this post, right? I will say, this month was mostly a disappoint in terms of reading. High expectations… but I did read what may be a top five book of all time now. A classic win some/lose some situation.
FAMILY FAMILY by Laurie Frankel
3/5 Stars
I have typically really enjoyed Laurie Frankel’s novels and I was looking forward to reading Family Family. I thought it started off super strong and then fell flat somewhere in the middle. This is becoming a personal preference at this point, but I don’t really like books written during the pandemic and I could just te ..read more

We got home from Tampa on Tuesday and slowly got our bearings. We came back to a pretty big rain storm and let’s just say I’m glad we got four days of sunny weather in Florida because just the 24 hours of downpour left me feeling down in the dumps. (I don’t love grey, rainy days in general, but add in a newborn and I was feeling extra trapped!) Luckily I think we have some springy days ahead and next week we have a high 60s day it looks like…. I’m dreaming of sitting outside with a (!!!) beer! I’m keeping expectations low, but I’m hoping it works out
