Even though I am currently living in Phoenix, it is actually chilly here.  I know that you probably don’t believe me, but Phoenix can really cool down in the winter. It even gets cold enough to want to make Hot Chocolate.  Then to make Hot Chocolate even more fun for the grandkids, we’ve made a Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board! What do I put in a Charcuterie Board? Usually the answer is…whatever you want! For this Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board we’ve included lots of yummy things some of which are seasonal but substitutions can easily be made. Items we used: Pirouette cookies, choc ..read more

So much of the magic of Christmas is the memories.  Memories of Christmases past, gifts we once have received and holiday goodies that we remember enjoying.  Two goodies that I remember that my own mother used to love during the holidays were Chocolate Covered Cherries and Peppermint Patties.  Peppermint Patties make such a great goodie gift and are surprisingly easy to make.  One word of warning though.  When making these, do not put them with other candies or cookies on a plate or a container because that will make everything else taste like peppermint!  Speak ..read more

Ok so we have a big family favorite recipe today but it goes by a few names.  In our family it is our Snowball Cookies Recipe.  It is also known as Mexican Wedding Cookies and also Russian Tea Cakes.  No matter what you call them it’s not Christmas until our family makes these. With a wonderful nutty flavor sprinkled with powdered sugar these never last for long. Which is why it might be good to double the batch.   Here we go! I love the smells that are associated with Christmas.  Pumpkin, gingerbread and especially cinnamon.  For years, I have simmered this Mulling Spices Recipe on my stove top as the holidays have approached. Some days I will add a few slices of oranges to give it a little citrusy smell.  Other days I might drop a few drops of almond extract for an even sweeter smell. Another great thing about this Mulling Spices Recipe is that you can also use it to prepare a wonderfully spiced apple cider. Here is what you will need: 3 oz cinnamon sticks ⅓ cup cardamom pods ¼ cup allspice berrie ..read more
