Hey everyone, I’m currently working on a paper exploring the intersection between hip hop and religious influence on youth and young adults. Yes we have to compare hip hop and religious themes but Having trouble with it because it’s a rough topic. My ideas right now: • Hip Hop as a Guide: Just like traditional religious institutions, hip hop has shaped values and perspectives, acting as both a cultural and spiritual guide. • Cultural Icons: Prominent artists in the genre have taken roles similar to religious leaders, influencing social consciousness and motivations for activism. • Evolving R ..read more

ive been pursuing a clinched/counseling psychology phd for a bit (have undergrad major in psych and soc minor) and am currently in a post-bacc as a lab manager in a clinical psych lab. and am thinking of outright applying to some soc masters/phd programs as i think im more inclined to think of human behavior from a more humanistic/systems orientation than the more biological/medical model in psych. was wondering if anybody had any thoughts or advice while im considering this submitted by /u/vincentgucci [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Seeing the recent amount of pro palestinian protests and calls to divest from israel in colleges around the nation along with the possible ban on tiktok, i wonder, is the US going through a similar process as arab nations’ civil unrest with the rise of twitter? What are tour thoughts? It would be interesting to see a comparison of timeline of events. submitted by /u/Large-Ad8515 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Good day all, As the title states I'm looking for book recommendations for my undergrad thesis, I have almost two years left to finish it so right now I'm trying to see what is and is not currently in the literature. Because of the way the school system is designed I've become great at reading textbooks and passing tests but I am also piss-poor at reading/understanding primary text so I want to work on that. My topics are very broad right now so I am also going to try to narrow it down but my three rough ideas right now are. Food/Nutrition narratives, how did we go from not having food to vi ..read more

Hey all, Im a current undergrad for sociology and really found myself enamored for the quantitative side of research. I was hoping to pursue this into my masters, but I am currently working out the prerequisite courses for many programs near me (California) and am finding many of them to take an extra 4 school semesters to complete. I am about to become a senior and was wondering what might be some good programs that are either: have forgiving programs in terms of their pre-reqs or should i just grind it out and complete the pre-reqs and just get it done? Or? What do you recommend? Thanks in ..read more

‘Both structuralist and interactionist theories fail to adequately explain the relationship between the individual and society.’ Explain and assess this view. This question is from Alevel Sociology 9699/22 May June 2019 The marking scheme isn't really helping me and I'd like to view a well structured proper model answer. If anyone could help me, I'd be really thankful. submitted by /u/Standard-Arm-1836 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
