I have an upcoming event that I submitted and was published in February. A few days ago somebody who lives about 50 km away from me got an event published at the same time my event is happening at. I’ve been getting messages from some locals in my area begging me to change the time of my event to the evening because they want to be able to go to this out of town event and my event. I said no absolutely not, my event was published months ago so I’m not changing my time so if you would rather go to the out of town event that’s fine with me. One person is claiming my event is going to have lower ..read more

Hey guys… I randomly ended up here… I’ve never heard of geocaching before. The more I read about it, more I’m interested to learn… geocaching looks like so much fun. Is there a place to learn some rules, some basics?? Where do you get the locations ?? Etc submitted by /u/Doublewhooper [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

On a recent trip, I was able to find a Dinosaur Train cache in the US that had the Partnership Cache attribute. The only attribute I am now missing is the L&F (Lost and Found Tour) attribute. submitted by /u/restinghermit [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Greetings. I'm a beginner (20 caches found) and i just read in the previous post that the owner of a cache compares the paper logs with the logs on the app. How important is it to use the same name and to write on the paper log? When i go with my kids, (teenagers) they like to sign with their own nickname. The one who solves it may sign it. And not the name i use in the app. We also did a trail with 14 caches and after 10 caches in a forest and signing damp paper logs my pen stopped working. We found the last 4 and only logged it in the app. I bring more pens now. But are there rules about wh ..read more

This was a really tricky cache for me in South Carolina. There were two possible hosts and hundreds of possible hiding spots. But it felt so good when I finally made the find submitted by /u/SpeedyGonzales4 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I've placed several caches over the years, many of them I don't bother to read the actual paper logs and compare them to the online logs, but one I placed a week ago has 3 logs, the duo who scored FTF, with a long and detailed adventure on getting to the cache, and one that's just "TFTC" on the same day by a third person. I went to the cache, it's close to my house and quite a hike, about 20 minutes or so, where you'll cross a waterfall, some natural stone stairs, several glorious scenes, and just a "TFTC" felt very unfitting. Sure enough, the only ink on the paper was from the FTF duo, I sea ..read more

I hid a magnetic cache on the inside part of a beam on this bridge. It is both accessible from the top or the bridge, only from the bottom. It is ~4.5m from the floor so almost impossible to reach without any tool. However if a ladder is used (if someone carries a ladder here..) or by parking the car at GZ and climb on the roof it is reachable with no difficulty (can’t see the cache but can feel it.) The spot by itself is a dried river by a very random road of the Australian countryside (20km from the nearest town), with absolutely no phone reception and presence of wasps and spiders (amo ..read more

Garmin Etrex SE - missing data in gpx files?

We just got an SE for geocaching, and have been exploring how to load caches onto it. When we place a gpx file in the corresponding folder (on the gps), we get the coordinates, but no additional data like name, description, hints, etc. We do get all this information when using Geocaching Live... is there a way to show the additional fields in the gpx file on the SE? submitted by /u/slogfilet [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
