Pathtags are a guilty pleasure of mine. Ever since I discovered them back in 2012, within a year of beginning our geocaching career, I was hooked. I’ve saved and treated myself to one new pathtag each year; many of these designs have come to life by Jen at Pink Sweets Designs, a very creative and talented Official Pathtags Design Partner. Therefore, when she launched a new monthly subscription experience and asked me to share her first box with you all, I was pumped – as was Sophia! October 2021 Pink Sweets Pathtag Subscription Box Upon opening the box, we instantly were caught up in this mont ..read more

The Highest Point in North Dakota | White Butte

A lot has happened this year. We had to change our plans time and again, adapting to the many unexpected rain storms 2020 has showered at us. One goal – and one goal only – that remained for me was hiking to the top of White Butte. I prepped the hike to land on International EarthCache Weekend, since White Butte is an EarthCache, one of the few in our area. We set up babysitters, aka my parents, and left town. The day was perfect – sunny, sweater weather, autumn bursting. We parked our truck and began to walk. The wind would obviously be joining us; I was glad I brought a cap. During the journ ..read more

Finding Smiles | Comic Book Review

I’ll admit it. I have not been reading nearly as much as I was a few years ago. Sure, I get a few kids books in every day, but I think I only read one novel in 2020 (I actually finished it this week). Needless to say, I was very excited to pick up this comic book (finally), finishing it easily in one sitting. A geocaching comic book! I feel a little special having this in my book collection. My Reading Experience Last year, I connected with @emwheeziecaching on Instagram, and she designed my 2019 pathtag. She’s currently going to college for an art degree, and for one of her assignments she cr ..read more

September’s geocaching photo challenge brought in some real entertaining micro pictures! Thanks to all who participated! I enjoyed not only seeing the all the fun snaps, but also hearing the stories behind them. I put together a video of all the entries, as well as the drawing for the winner. Which picture was your favorite? October’s GeoJangie Photo Challenge September 22nd was the first day of autumn! To cherish my favorite season of caching, I’m challenging all of you to take a “Fall for Geocaching” themed photo. Bring on the leaves and pumpkins! For the Jangie clan, we went after a cache ..read more

Are Favorite Points for You or Someone Else?
Geocaching Jangie Blog

Certain thoughts buzz inside my head for while before I find the words to describe them. Favorite points are a somewhat large part of the game, swaying hundreds (thousands?) of geocachers on where to travel, which caches to visit, and what containers to craft into hides. So we’ve all heard the debates on WHAT deserves a favorite point, but let’s dive in to WHO benefits from these points. What are Favorite Points? My dad reads this blog, and considering him and other beginner geocachers, I suppose I should explain what these little gems are :). Favorite points are a premium feature used by cach ..read more

Jangie’s FTF Streak Adventure | September 2020

At the end of August, I received a message from a CO asking me to attempt a FTF. They wanted to challenge their local FTF hound in the town about 30 minutes away; he had already DNF-ed their cache and wanted to see some competition. Well, I crossed my fingers, set my sights on two potential FTFs and hoped that these hides would assist in my current personal geocaching FTF streak challenge. September arrived, and I planned a day ASAP to take a trip with my kids. While they took a quick nap, we traveled gravel roads, and parked by a dam. As soon as I stopped, the kids woke up. They were in a goo ..read more

All About the Geocaching Guild

Vloggers have YouTube, podcasters have iTunes, but bloggers are a bit left out. How do you find other writers – let alone other geocaching writers – on the worldwide web? Sheer searching on Google, social media, and luck, I’d say. Well, a couple years ago, Geocacher Ken and I started a Facebook page to act as a hub for geocaching bloggers, aka The Geocaching Guild. I struggle as a creator to try to support all the creators, anyone making content for my favorite hobby (geocaching), especially the entertainment channels I enjoy multiple times during the month. I wanted to give back specifically ..read more

Yes! Another Micro! | September ’20 #GeoJangiePC

I’ve been trying to rack my brain on something special I could offer the online geocaching community – something new, something fun. For months I’ve been thinking about this idea, mulling over how it might play out, debating on clicking publish. Well. I’m doing it! Here’s my first geocaching photo challenge. For the month of September, I am asking geocachers to take a photo with a micro cache. This is something we should all have access to find, yet I’m challenging you on the photo – to turn “Not Another Micro!” to “Yes! Another Micro!” This should be something that is unique, not a typical se ..read more

The Pros and Cons of Mailing a Trackable
Geocaching Jangie Blog

Over the years, I’ve participated in the potentially controversial action of mailing trackables. A few different variations have taken place, which I’ll summarize real quick, and then I’ll break down a few pros and cons. You’ll have to let me know your thoughts. It’s always interesting to debate aspects of our game! The Mailing of Trackables I have been sent a trackable fresh from its owner to help start it’s journey in a different part of the game board. At one point, a guy sent me his trackable to take to a cache, photograph the TB, then mail it to another cacher. Once, a no-longer-active ge ..read more

Jangie’s FTF Streak Challenge
Geocaching Jangie Blog

Streaks in geocaching have always captivated me. I applaud those cachers who can dedicate time each and every day to keep their streaks alive, whether that’s for a week, a month, or for years on end. Seriously. You rock. I can only hope that I’ll be able attempt a mini daily streak at one point in my life. However, for now, I’ve decided to take a crack at a FTF streak. These types of streaks are not supported by HQ, as in you can’t place challenge caches for people with FTF streaks. Therefore, this is purely for fun and a personal challenge. I have been trying to get one FTF, as in be the firs ..read more
