It's Week 21 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and our theme for this week is dog breeds in our respective cities, so I'm going to talk about some pit bull rescue dogs in Cincinnati. Specifically, I'm talking about two pittie mix dogs that are still looking for their forever homes after I photographed them almost two years ago! Jace and Lexi are both pit bull mix rescue dogs available for adoption with Save Our Shelter Dogs Rescue in Northern Kentucky. Both Jace and Lexi were photographed in Ault Park in Cincinnati. A great place to take your active dogs out on the tr ..read more

It's Week 19 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and our topic for the week is dog parks. So, I wanted to talk about the best dog park in Cincinnati, which is Otto Armleder Dog Park near Lunken Airport. Otto Armleder Dog Park Otto Armeleder is our favorite dog park and you can find us there at least once a month (more when it's nice out) hanging out in the small dog area. The small dog area at Otto Armleder is why it is the best dog park in Greater Cincinnati. Not all dog parks in Cincinnati have small dog areas and when you have small dogs it is imperative that you have a s ..read more

It's Week 16 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and our topic is rescue dogs. Over the years I've photographed many rescue dogs in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. As an animal lover and a pet photographer, part of my mission is to give back to rescue animals in need by trying to help them get adopted through providing professional quality adoption photos. I also photograph other rescue animals from cats and rabbits to guinea pigs, birds, and more. Some of my favorite images that I've captured are of rescue pets I was photographing for their adoption bio. These fir ..read more

Project 52: Sometimes Life Changes so Quickly | Week 17
Pet Love Photography

It's Week 17 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and this week it was photographer's choice. Originally, I had a completely different title for my post and a different subject in mind for this week, but as the title indicates, life changes so quickly. For the past several years I've worked with Save Our Shelter Dogs Rescue to help their rescue pets get seen. My kitten, Milo, was adopted from them this past September. So, of course, I follow them on social media. Wednesday morning I saw a post about Jill, an alumnus of the rescue, who was headed into surgery at the vet after ..read more

It's Week 16 of professional pet photography Project 52 blog circle and our theme for this week is "happiness." This week, happiness is photographing a happy Bernese Mountain Dog. I had the pleasure of photographing Foster, who won his session from the CincyPet Magazine Cover Model Contest last year. Foster came in second in the contest and won a session with me and a gift basket of prizes.  Foster's mom wanted to schedule his session in honor of his second birthday, which was this Wednesday. We headed to Sawyer Point Park for our session because it offered a variety of scenery. As we wal ..read more

It's Week 15 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and our theme for this week is color. I'm finally getting back into working this year and just photographed at a dog show for the Cavaliers of the Midwest. I was super excited to have the opportunity to use a new sofa I bought just for use with smaller dogs. Most of the images taken at the dog show are win photos, which are photos of dogs with owners, handlers, and the judge along with their ribbons or trophies. However, some of the patrons choose to have portraits done.  I had the pleasure of photographing Vivien (c ..read more

It's Weed 12 of professional pet photography Project 52 blog circle and I'm feeling lucky...which is also our theme for the week. Fortunately for me, I got to photograph a dog named Lucky this past summer for my Tails of Cincinnati fundraising project. In fact, Lucky and his brother Gizmo were my very first subjects for the project. I've known their mom, Linda, for a number of years as Gizmo is her long-haired chihuahua that I've photographed before (and previously featured on my blog.) Back in the time before the pandemic we used to attend chihuahua playgroup together. Lucky isn't a chihuahua ..read more

It's Week Nine of professional pet photography Project 52 blog circle and our topic is seasonally appropriate, "green." Of course, St. Patrick's Day is coming up soon and while neither I nor my dogs will be drinking green beer, we will probably bust out our green outfits. St. Patrick's Day also pretty much marks one year since we went into our pandemic lockdown which threw everyone for a loop last year. Green also signals the advent of Spring, coming up shortly after St. Patrick's Day. And Spring means it will be time to start photographing pets outdoors as Mother Nature works her magic and th ..read more

It's Week 7 of professional pet photography Project 52 blog circle project and our topic was "deep depth of field." Depth of field is the distance between the closest and farthest object that is in focus. Deep depth of field is when more, if not most of the image is in focus versus being more blurred out. Typically, when focusing on a subject, you want the subject to be in focus and the background to be out of focus. Deep depth of focus is more often used when photographing landscapes or architecture. Sometimes, when you combine photographing a subject like a pet or a person along with a lands ..read more

Project 52: Love is the Answer | Week 6 | 2021
Pet Love Photography

I've both taken some time off and been very busy, so my weekly blog posting for professional pet photography Project 52 blog circle has been intermittent at best these last few months. However, this week—Week 6 of the blog circle for 2021—is a theme that is near and dear to me, in fact it's so important it's even in the name of my business...love. Of course, Valentine's Day is this Sunday and, under normal circumstances, I would already have done in-store sessions to raise money for Save Our Shelter Dogs Rescue as I've done for the last two years, but living through a pandemic is anything but ..read more
