Since I completed my interiors course back in December, I have felt much more confident making decisions regarding the house and it’s also made me a little bolder and prepared to take a few more interior related risks! One thing we have done is kept to a tight budget and I’m really proud that we have hardly bought anything new for the house, all of our furniture has been purchased second hand. I love having second hand furniture, its far more interesting and often much better quality compared to buying new. Anyway, it’s been a pretty busy few months, here’s what we’ve been ..read more

My new years resolution, to get better at remembering to blog! 2018 was an all round successful season with a slightly earlier finish than planned. NPS Figi carried on with her consistent self throughout her 6 year old year. Figi ended the season on a real high with a very successful show at Arena UK festival in September, jumping double clears and qualifying for the 6 year old Grand Prix and the Foxhunter Grand Prix. I couldn’t be more proud of her and producing her from a coming 4yo has been a pleasure. Selling Ed Ed also had a great year with some placings in some great classes, and w ..read more

A Horse is For Life, Not Just For Christmas…

Horse Ownership: A long term commitment Buying a horse is a long term commitment.  Just like buying any animal, it’s a decision that should never be taken lightly.  Too often we hear the classic story of someone who buys a horse, or pony, and then it gets sold on with little care about where it will end up. Or that the horse has got old and it is time to move them on.  Horses are treated like disposable assets. We are in a culture whereby if one breaks or isn’t suitable, we simply replace it with a shiny new one. I believe this culture has to change. Horses are not like ..read more

When I heard a good friend of mine had recently qualified as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist – I thought she’d have to be good.  I’ve known Sam (Churchill) since I was about 12 years old.  Sam is a true horse woman and I just knew that she would be someone I would like to look at my horses. I had a dressage lesson on Jiggy last month and the trainer and I noticed that she was particularly stiff on one rein, unusually so.  She recommended I contact ‘ a back person’ as we call them and instantly I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give SJC Therapies (Sam)&nbs ..read more

I am a firm believer of living life to the full and making the most of every moment we are given on this planet.  Morv and I both love being busy and having lots on the go – so in true Abi and Morv style, we’ve bought a horsebox which we are planning to convert into a holiday let – when we saw it for sale we just could’t resist. We’ve purchased a Bedford TL which has a beautiful hardwood Oakley body  – I can imagine that in it’s day it was the Crème de la Crème of horseboxes. It looks quite tatty on the outside, but inside it has a white leather lined roof and varnishe ..read more

It’s no secret that I love my horses. It may sound sad to some, but I really couldn’t imagine life without them. They always brighten up my day. Tips For Styling A Country Cottage

It was, and still is, an exciting journey renovating a cottage.  I have loved each and every minute of it. However, like most renovation projects it doesn’t come without its difficulties. One thing I found particularly frustrating was finding my sense of style.  Styling the cottage was a much bigger challenge than I had anticipated! It’s taken me a year of moving things it and out to start feeling happy with the way it looks. Here’s some valuable things I’ve learnt on my journey so far: Don’t be afraid to take inspiration from others Pinterest, books, interior blogs, interi ..read more

At Home With My Christy

The older I’m getting the more I enjoy being at home.  After a busy day it’s bliss to come home to relax or work on the cottage – which is an ongoing project. I’m really enjoying my transition into the world of interiors.  One thing that has to be done right is my bedding. I’m really fussy about anything to do with the haven that is my bed.  However, I think that’s entirely justified given how much of our lives we spend in our beds. I was therefore super excited when the opportunity arose to work with Christy who have the most amazing bedding and bathroom wea ..read more

Ahh I was so excited when this gem arrived in the post. It ticks all of my boxes – quality, a wardrobe essential and best of all it’s pink. I can’t wait to include this as part of my show jumping wardrobe. Although to be honest I haven’t taken it off my wrist since it arrived. Pictured is the Belvoir in Rose Gold – I must admit I found it really hard to chose a colour, as there’s so many lovely ones to choose from, but I am really happy with my choice. The watch strap itself is made from genuine Harris Tweed, backed with leather that’s super soft and comfy. For those who are not pink fans ..read more

Hello! For those of you who haven’t seen my previous blogs for A Country Lady, my name is Teal Anthoney and I am a para dressage rider from Cornwall. I have had some time off from blogging as I’ve been through a bit of a rough patch with horses over the last year or so but I finally feel like I’m back on track and am really looking forward to getting back to my blogging again! First I should introduce my lovely horse Leo. I’ve had Leo just over 12 months now, he’s not been easy as he was very over-reactive when I bought him and I spent most of my time shouting “loose horse!!!” for the first ..read more
