Florida landlords liken COVID-19 Orders to college “spring-break.”

Landlords claim the stay-at-home COVID-19 pandemic orders and restrictions are similar to “spring-break.”  I’m not sure where these landlords went for spring-break, but it doesn’t sound anything like where I went in the 1980s. While universities rushed millions of dollars back to families during these difficult times, some privately held dorm apartments refused to refund a penny. These large companies will not even give money back for items such as an “unlimited buffet” despite their cafeterias being closed. Robocallers are pulling out all the stops to stop the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act.  In a grand victory for our society that is plagued by annoying robocalls, the Stop Bad Robocalls Act (H.R. 3375) was just voted on unanimously by the full U.S. House Commerce Committee to go to the floor.  This bipartisan bill will strengthen our robocall law and should pass the House unanimously and sail through the Senate.  Americans were hit with 5.2 billion robocalls in May 2019, an eye-popping increase of 370% since December 2015 (see robocallindex.com).  These billions of robocalls are the #1 complaint in ..read more
