Finally finished the stand for my anvil. Tired of lifting it onto benches or working on the floor. Lol. Had a decent walnut log (imagine that) but it big enough by itself. Did a quick rough turn mostly because I needed to shoot some vid, and added oak risers. Solid, heavy and stable. My @novawoodworking Galaxi lathe and Voyager drill press got a workout as well as my @harveywoodworking tablesaw. State of the shop, April 9 2020. New @harveywoodworking tablesaw is in and working. Very quiet and powerful. Really think I’m going to enjoy this. Redesigned my personal working space and dialing in the rest of the shop. Thinking custom cabinets will need to be my first flatwork build. Having the man door replace hopefully Monday and will start insulating and closing up the wall on that side. Inspired by @bastionhead @kathrinanellis and their demos at the @thewoodworkingshows this year I put down (most of) the powertools and carved my first successful spoon. I’ve tried before with mixed but mostly poor results. Main reasons were dull tools and not paying attention to the grain direction. Sometimes carbide is the best option. Turning an old, dry nasty piece of mystery wood and it was just killing the edge on my traditional tools.
