A research drilling campaign has started at the first of three sites across the province of North Brabant to evaluate the potential for geothermal heating. The campaign is being carried out by Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) and research institute TNO as part of the SCAN program. ORIX Corporation (ORIX) has announced the start of commercial operations of the Minami-Kayabe Geothermal Power Plant in the Minami-Kayabe region of Hakodate City in Hokkaido, Japan. A series of tests have been done on an existing geothermal well in the city of Krizevci in Croatia to determine the characteristics and parameters of the reservoir required for exploitation. The final goal of the project is to use the geothermal well for heating of the complex of public buildings in the immediate vicinity of the well.
