Hi everyone, I’m looking to put 75,000 km down on a round the world trip 2-up. There are two bikes second hand I’m considering. 2020 r1250gs rallye, 60,000km odo. Meticulously maintained, looks like new, only ridden on tarmac. 2019 r1250gs, 10,000km odo. Missed some calendar service intervals but otherwise well maintained for kms ridden. Has been ridden offroad and shows light wear. Both of these bikes are priced the same. With price being equal, which option makes sense? Everyone says to sell the bike privately. I can do that but what are best practices to follow? For example, should I include the Vario luggage or sell it separately. What do y'all think about test rides? It seems risky but also somewhat reasonable. Also, how should I price it - based on online values? I am all ears on your experiences selling a GS locally. I will never understand why the nav is so close to you, you have to look right down. Rather than remounting... Does anyone know of a supplier who has the metal mount situated at 180 degrees? Hello everyone, I picked up this great looking RS recently and both head gaskets started leaking. I went through and replaced them, unfortunately I had some issues in reassembly and broke the right side upper timing chain guide (related pic). The rest of the guide is intact. Any suggestions? I have read a forum about the Steptoe method, but I also have heard that the last bit of the guide isn’t a big issue. I made a video explaining my fueling issues. Initially the gear position potentiometer was faulty and that was causing probably the fueling maps to go wrong. Then I replaced the fuel pump and filter with the All-Balls Kit 47-2013. I did this because I thought the fueling problems were caused by the fuel pump. Same issues. I checked the butterflies and also the TPS. All good and the TPS is new. Finally I cleaned up the spark plugs which were dark, and a bit fouled. Same problem.
