Freezing temperatures and snow has being warned on the lead up to Christmas. The Met Office has said that the UK can expect snow and icy conditions from December 19th.
Weather maps from WXCharts show a freezing weather system hitting the UK from the 19th December due to air moving south from the Arctic and Scandinavia. The charts also suggest snow will fall across Scotland on the 16th and 17th December.

Storm Barra brings strong winds, heavy rain and snow to the UK
Barra is the second named storm of the season which has been identified by the Met Office

The boss of a car salvage yard has been jailed for a year after ignoring 15 safety notices.
A report from a forklift examiner in November 2018, which unearthed a Category A defect on a forklift, prompted a visit from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and resulted in Tahir Karim being sent to jail.

Employee of fencing manufacturer and site owner loses life in telehandler accident
North Somerset Magistrates’ Court heard how on 14 August 2017, Roderick McKenzie Hopes was working for PA Fencing Ltd. A telehandler tipped and knocked over stacked timber which fell on to Mr Hopes resulting in his death.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that the telehandler’s safety device, designed to stop loads being lifted to high, had not worked for a long time and maintenance had failed to identify this.

Company fined after employee sustains broken vertebra and a head injury due to fall from height
A manufacturing company has been sentenced after a warehouse operative, was gathering artificial tree, plants and flower products from shelf racking.
Newcastle Magistrates’ Court were told that the products were stored up to four bays high and that access to the racking was gained by using a ladder. Products were either dropped to the floor or carried down to the ground via the ladder. Two weather warnings have been issued in the UK for high winds and flooding
Despite a relatively warm and dry day for many, forecasters have issued the warnings for both the South East England and the North East of Scotland.
