We were delighted to welcome our Patron, the Duchess of Devonshire, who came to Sheffield to visit us at our offices today. The Duchess, who has been a Patron of the BTA for the past 15 years, spent her time talking to our helpline advisers about the types of calls they deal with every day, reading about the different ways the BTA helps over a million people with tinnitus each year and discussing future plans with our new Chief Executive, Deanne Thomas including the eagerly anticipated Tinnitus Biobank. New Years Day open water dip! Karen and David Quartermain are organising an event that has been running for over 10 years in Manchester at the iconic Salford Quays. Every new year's day, keen aqua lovers dare to be different by taking a dip in open water for a different type of challenge. The NYD'23 Swim challenge is a great way to start the year with family and friends and is predicted to attract hundreds of people. We are delighted to welcome Dr Nicola Heron, who is Chief Strategic Impact Officer at Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC), onto our Board of Trustees. Dr Heron brings over 24 years of experience in life science including holding senior positions in organisations including AstraZeneca and the NHS. She has experience of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics, and gained a PhD in Chemistry in Boston, USA and an MBA from the University of Sheffield.
