Bad times at the theater of dreams...
It’s symbolic that Erik ten Hag stood helplessly on the touchline in the stadium where he first watched Manchester United in person waiting to take over at the end of the 21-22 campaign.
Back then he wanted to see the job he had on his hands and assess the squad he was about to inherit as he set about ‘fixing’ United.
Fast forward two seasons later and new ownership executives were sat in the same position assessing the Dutchman as his side sunk to an incredulous new low.
Leaving the stadium as the manager waiting in the wings in 2022, he pondered what co ..read more

Rancid...
Manchester United are now in 8th place in the Premier League table with a -3 goal difference after a 4-0 beatdown at Crystal Palace. They are behind Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea. They are only five points ahead of David Moyes’ West Ham.
They have one win in their last seven Premier League games.
United’s season is unraveling as easy as its defense, and all of the positivity from Erik ten Hag’s tenure has dissipated. This was a defeat on the level of any that has seen his predecessors dismissed and one which highlights just how far the team has fal ..read more

Battle of mid-table teams on Monday
Manchester United have to wait until the UK Bank Holiday to get back to Premier League action, as they travel to Crystal Palace for a Monday kick-off.
Erik ten Hag’s side had a mixed week, beating Coventry City on penalties at Wembley and overcoming Sheffield United at home, before being held by relegation-threatened Burnley on Saturday.
Nine days will have elapsed by the time the Reds kick a ball again and, with Champions League qualification now no longer possible, we’re hoping to finish the league se ..read more

Another one...
Manchester United’s lone healthy center-back became the latest training casualty for the Reds. Harry Maguire is expected to miss three weeks with a muscle injury suffered in training, most likely ruling him out of action for United’s remaining Premier League fixtures.
The Athletic’s Andy Mitten reported he may make it back in time for the FA Cup Final at the end of May. Regardless, this is another example of poor squad management as training injuries continue to plague United this season.
The club released this brief statement after the news broke from reporters:
“Harry Maguire ..read more

Previewing Monday’s clash at Selhurst Park
Manchester United will hope to stay in contention to qualify for the Europa League by finishing fifth when they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Manchester United are no longer in the running for a Champions League seat for next season as attaining a fourth-place finish is not mathematically possible. Newcastle’s win over Burnley earlier this matchday saw The Red Devils drop to seventh in the league standings.
While Erik Ten Hag’s side have succeeded in the F.A. Cup and reached the competition’s final, it is no se ..read more

Looking ahead a bit to the summer…
Manchester United have their work cut out for them this summer. For United to get back to the summit of the Premier League a massive squad upheaval needs to be done, with several players departing Old Trafford and even more coming in.
That task is far easier said than done as United find themselves in a very poor financial position, partially from their own doing through years of bad signings - especially recently - and partially because of financial fair play laws.
Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are ..read more

Here are the player ratings for Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Burnley at Old Trafford:
Starters
Andre Onana - 5
Even in his better games, he does something to let himself and the team down.
Diogo Dalot - 6
Didn’t make too many mistakes, which is a plus nowadays.
Casemiro - 4
Looked better at center back this season but played his part in awarding Burnley the penalty.
Harry Maguire - 7
Got caught out once but was solid for the most part.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 4
Not the sort of game where he shines. Botched a decent chance in the second half.

Manchester United suffered another impotent match against poor opposition on Saturday, drawing 1-1 with Vincent Kompany’s Burnley. The Clarets sit in 19th in the Premier League table but could yet rescue something from the season after points deductions for Everton and Nottingham Forest above them. That being said, they were an easy side to play through once again at Old Trafford, but Erik ten Hag’s team could do nothing to take advantage.
United ran out the same XI that began the 4-2 win against Sheffield United in midweek, but lacked the composure to finis ..read more
