The state of the world isn't even close to normal, no matter how much we wish it were. But against all odds, a Super Bowl will be played on schedule this year. It may not have been a great idea due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but the NFL managed to play a full season without cancelling any games. The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will take on the newly relevant Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 7. There will be commercials, a halftime show courtesy of The Weeknd, and even a limited number of fans at the game. Life might actually feel sort of normal for a few h ..read more

Are you ready for some football.......... fellow kids? First teased weeks ago, the Jan. 10 NFL Wild Card game — which is a showdown between the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints — is getting a special broadcast on Nickelodeon. The kid-focused network's version of the game features celebrity kid commentators, slime-infused first down lines, slime cannons, and of course, Spongebob Squarepants. It's adorable. It's delightful. It's wholesome. Yeah, the NFL has all sorts of image issues, player issues, health and safety issues, management issues, the works. But this is good. Genuinely good ..read more

Giants quarterback's spectacular fall is the funniest football moment of 2020
Mashable | NFL
by Caitlin Welsh

No matter how much we mature as individuals and evolve as a society, there's one thing that will always, always be funny: people falling over. New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones managed to turn lemonade into a football-sized lemon during the third quarter of Thursday night's face-off with the Philadelphia Eagles. With the Giants down 10-7, Jones held onto the ball at the snap and decided to run it himself. At first it was the dream play: Jones took off through a gap in the Eagles' defense and found himself alone, covering a massive 80 yards in the biggest run by a quarterback since 2 ..read more

Two men were charged by the U.S. Department of Justice for allegedly hacking the social media accounts of NBA and NFL players.  Both men, Ronnie Magrehbi, 20, of Florida, and Trevontae Washington, 21, of Louisiana, face a hefty fine along with time in prison. According to a statement by the DOJ, between December 2017 and April 2019, they targeted the social media accounts of professional athletes in the NFL and NBA via phishing campaigns.  Washington would create fake login pages for social networking sites and then message the athletes on those platforms. NFL paints 'End Racism' on its fields and no, this isn't a joke
Mashable | NFL

The NFL's unhelpful attempt at standing for social justice is getting dragged by Twitter.  NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told NBC Sports that the league will paint "End racism" and "It takes all of us" in each stadium's end zones for the upcoming season.  "The NFL stands with the Black community, the players, clubs, and fans confronting systemic racism," Goodell told NBC Sports. "We will not relent in our work."  The move is especially ironic, as the NFL iced out San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the national anthem in protest of police brutality ..read more
