Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 4/18/24
Hello Ramily! Today, or this evening (it’s all a bit confusing as I am techincally writing this on Wednesday) the show “Matthew Stafford: Locked In” will be televised. According to the tweet below it should be on the internet and NFL Network. I am not sure if I will watch it right away (I might) but I do absolutely plan to check that out at some point. How can a Rams’ fan not? Do you think you will be watching the Stafford show? Or do you say let’s just get to the draft already?

SumerSport’s Eric Eager argues that kickers are not wise use of draft capital
After leading the NFL with 16 total missed kicks and extra point attempts in 2023, it’s clear that the Los Angeles Rams need to upgrade at the kicker position for 2024. Fans of the team assume Los Angeles will use a late round draft choice to secure the kicker of the future; however, SumerSports, recently made an objective argument that it may not be a wise decision to use draft capital on kickers.

An 11-player Rams draft class to fantasize about
Since it has been awhile since the last time you looked at a Rams mock draft, probably 5-10 minutes at least, why not another one? This comes from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, who posted a seven-round mock with less than 10 days to go until the big day.
Here is Brugler’s 11-player haul for the Los Angeles Rams:
1 (19). Jared Verse, Edge, Florida State 2 (52). Bo Nix, QB, Oregon 3 (83). Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama 3 (99). Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri 5 (154). Leonard Taylor III, DT, Miami 5 (155). Cody Schrad ..read more

If you had to choose between the two, would you rather the Rams pick Brock Bowers or J.J. McCarthy?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Los Angeles Rams fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
I drummed up something different for a Rams reacts question this week, I wanted a question that you’ve certainly never heard before and will upset half of you for some reason. If you had to choose between only these two prospects fo ..read more

Royce Freeman’s short Rams career comes to an end
The Los Angeles Rams will apparently not be bringing back running back Royce Freeman, as he is signing with the Dallas Cowboys. Freeman is becoming a real journeyman at the NFL level. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2018, went to the Carolina Panthers a few seasons later, then the Houston Texans, the Rams this past season and now reportedly the Cowboys, a team in dire need of running back help.

By now you’ve heard the names LA is connected with at #19, but what happens if they move down the draft order?
The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off next week and the Los Angeles Rams have a wealth of options at their disposal. Les Snead is equipped with a first round draft pick for the first time since he took Jared Goff first overall in 2016. The Rams have never had a first round pick since Sean McVay joined the team in 2017.
It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see the team trade down from their currently slotted pick at #19, especially considering how dee ..read more

Examining prospects that are dropping on draft boards
At this point of the new season, forecasting draft talent to the Los Angeles Rams is in full swing. Here at Turf Show Times, there’s no lack of articles from major media pundits and in-house content providers, all touting draft up-and-comers. But what about draft board fallers? Is there any value there?
Cornerback Kalen King of Penn State and Florida State wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson were all getting Round 1 run before the season, now they seem to be ..read more

ESPN’s Matt Miller sees someone like Tyler Guyton as a fit for the Rams in the draft
ESPN’s Matt Miller thinks that now is the best time for the Los Angeles Rams to draft an offensive lineman to join a group that has gotten a lot better in the last year already.
“I think they found a steal in Alaric Jackson, he’s been a solid left tackle for them. But Rob Havenstein turns 32 after the draft. Let’s start thinking long-term about building up this offensive line instead of this band-aid unit that they’ve had under Sean McVay. I’m looking at Amarius Mi ..read more

If Ernest Jones is concerned at all about playing absent Aaron Donald, he isn’t showing it.
Very recently I wrote an article about any positives that the Los Angeles Rams could find through the retirement of Aaron Donald. One potential positive I listed was seeing if other players on the team would step up, and to observe if the defense could hold it’s own without AD. Enter starting LA linebacker, Ernest Jones, who on Monday dropped a couple quotes about the team preparing for life without #99.
Blessed to have played this game alongside you. There will ..read more

LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr. might be too good for the Rams to pass up at 19
The NFL Draft is almost a week away and the options for the Los Angeles Rams are limitless. While they have needs on the defensive side of the ball, it’s very possible that they address the offense and continue to build around Matthew Stafford. At the same time, they could do the obvious. Trade up, trade back...all options are on the table. As the draft gets closer, it feels like the Rams may be leaning offense at 19. I’ll have one more mock draft before the real thing, but this is how I ..read more
