Let’s face it, when you work in a law firm, having to enter your billable time can be a drag. I remember those days of having to account for every 6 minutes of my workday.
These key strategies will help you to change your mindset about your billable time.
Strategy 1 - Think about the positive aspects of billable time
If you’re like most people who have a billable hour goal that you’ve been told you have to meet, it can be a source of stress. You have to get your actual work done AND keep track of what’s billable and what’s not billable.

Attorneys have a reputation for being procrastinators. We’ve all seen the memes and jokes about it. They’ve all seen them too. So we assume that’s just the way it is. It’s always been that way, and we just have to get used to it.
What if it didn't have to be that way?
Can you prevent all rush projects with what I’m going to talk about today? No. But what if you could reduce them by 50%? Even more of a reduction would be better, but imagine if you’re currently dealing with one rush project per day, and you could get that down to 2 or 3 per week.
The result is less stress for you and a bette ..read more

If you’re like many paralegal graduates, you might have had to take any position you could just to get your foot in the door after completing your paralegal certificate program.
I’m seeing this first-hand inside my Litigation Boot Camp, more so in the recent enrollments when we were open in January. In fact, I was a little surprised at how many this time around were working as legal assistants or receptionists at a law firm, and they joined the Litigation Boot Camp to better prepare them for when they do get the promotion. They don’t realize that by taking the course, they’re already giving ..read more
