Photo by Mario Tama/Getty Images Yay, more paywalled NFL football! The NFL has been pushing the envelope as far as broadcasting some of its games behind a streaming paywall, and now it looks like the league is expanding its streaming horizons even more. Puck Sports’ John Ourand, a longtime sports media insider, reported that Netflix is closing in on landing the rights to air the NFL’s two Christmas Day games, which will mark the rarity that is Wednesday football. Here’s a snippet of Ourand’s article from beyond the paywall: It looks like Netflix will wind up carrying the two NFL games schedul ..read more

What Byron Murphy brings to the Seahawks defense, and where he best fits

Photo by Nick Tre. Smith/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images A look at Seattle’s first-round pick and where he fits in the defense. With the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks drafted interior defensive lineman Byron Murphy. Over the past two off-seasons Seattle has given Leonard Williams a 3-year deal worth $64,000,000 and handed $30,000,000 million in total guarantees to Dre’Mont Jones. Despite that, defensive line was still an area of need for a Seahawks defense that (again) got gashed in the run game last season. They addressed that hole with Murphy, who has multipl ..read more

Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images An overview of Seattle’s first-round pick along with my predictions for his rookie season. The Seattle Seahawks took advantage of a historical run on offensive players to “stick and pick” at No. 16 and select the top defensive player on their board, Byron Murphy II, a defensive tackle from the University of Texas. He’s a slightly undersized, explosive DT who wreaked havoc in his Junior season after finally becoming a full-time starter for the Longhorns. Athletic Profile/Comps Relative Athletic Score (RAS) Byron Murphy II is a DT prospect in the 2024 draft ..read more

Photo by Darryl Oumi/Getty Images Cordeiro is the first UDFA from the 2024 class to be let go by the Seahawks. The Seattle Seahawks are back down to Geno Smith and Sam Howell at the quarterback position. Former Hawaii and San Jose State quarterback Chevan Cordeiro, signed by Seattle as an undrafted free agent, was released by the team on Wednesday. No other transactions were made. Having not selected a QB in last month’s NFL Draft, the Seahawks added Cordeiro as part of their UDFA class. They also invited Taulia Tagovailoa (brother of Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa) and Kory Curtis to rookie ..read more

Photo by Ryan Kang/Getty Images Seattle let go of some major contributors in free agency and as cap casualties. We’re in the dead-ish part of the NFL offseason. The free agency frenzy is over, the NFL Draft is done, minicamps are underway, and the only major event from now until training camp is the release of the regular season schedule. It’s been a memorable and busy offseason for the Seattle Seahawks. The first major departure was head coach Pete Carroll, then we had high-profile exits on the roster. Safeties Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams were among the cap casualties, while the likes of Jo ..read more

Did the Seahawks just find their new kick and punt return specialist?

Photo by Matthew Maxey/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Williams was an outstanding return specialist at Tennessee. The Seattle Seahawks are in need of a new kick and punt returner following the departure of running back DeeJay Dallas to the Arizona Cardinals. With new kickoff rules designed to encourage returns, we may see new renewed importance on having a quality returner. One of Seattle’s undrafted free agents may provide that spark. Tennessee’s Dee Williams was more of a punt return standout than kick returner in college, but you’d rather be forcing more punts (didn’t give up points) than ..read more
