Why Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is so important in a remote working world?

How to become more strategic
The ability to think, plan and act strategically is a critical skill for success in business, but little training or guidance is provided. So how do you become more strategic? To answer this question, consider these two scenarios:
Scenario 1: Lucy has been in the company for 12 years. She arrived as a new graduate and got to grips rapidly with her role, becoming a real expert, someone who people around her rely on. There is an irony that in 2022 when we all have mobile ‘phones’, the phone function is the feature people seem to use the least.
With the majority of people working at home during the pandemic and continually exhausted from back-to-back MS Teams meetings, many found email an easier method for additional messages. Consequently, most organisations saw a significant rise in email volume over that period. Many of our customers reported this rise, however the increased level has not subsided. We speak to people daily who complain that now not only have email volumes stayed high, which c ..read more

René Robert, a Swiss photographer known for his shots of some of Spain’s most famous flamenco stars, died in January after slipping while on one of his nightly walks around the busy Paris neighbourhood where he lived. Tragically he gradually developed hypothermia as he wasn’t checked on for 9 hours, despite numerous people passing by.
Why do tragedies like this happen?
These kinds of stories keep appearing in the local, national and international news where someone has suffered, and this could have been prevented through an intervention by a bystander. This is also prevalent in the ..read more

“Will staff fall back into bad habits after email training? Will they go back to sending unnecessary copies, checking emails endlessly, and writing poor emails?”
Just a few of the questions that we are often asked. The short answer is no. Why are we so confident?
Firstly everything delegates learn when they attend an is common sense – just not common practice.
Once someone can see the benefit of writing clear and meaningful subject lines – and the impact this has on the recipients – they are unlikely to change back again.
Once a delegate appreciates that messages containing spelling mistakes o ..read more

We are all bystanders, every day we witness all kinds of things. How we choose to respond to the things we see is what makes us active or passive. Being an Active Bystander means being aware when someone's behaviour is inappropriate or threatening – and choosing to challenge it. The Active Bystander model provides a number of appropriate responses to challenge behaviours constructively and safely. It has had a major impact in changing cultures from the military to universities and businesses across all cultures.
What can we do to become Active rather than Passive Bystanders?
