I am modelling a respiratory disease with states based around thresholds % of predicted FEV1. I only have the rate of FEV1 degradation as a continuous value (ml/year) How would I use this continuous data to get the annual transitional probability from this ? I tried - the time it takes to get to the next threshold based on the patient cohort and tried to use the exponential equation but it came to a very small value. Help and thank you ! submitted by /u/muzi_a [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! I am an undergraduate and aspire to enter the field of Health Economics. From what I understand, most Health Economist hold minimally a Masters in Health Economics. For my undergraduate degree, I did a second major in Health Economics and Management and have some exposure to the discipline. In my country, there isn't a university which offers a Masters in Health Economics. However, one of the universities have recently started a programme offering a Graduate Certificate in Health Economic Evaluation due to the growing demand and need for Health Economics skills. The aim of the programme s ..read more

Hey good people, I graduated with a masters in health economics in 2020 but didn't get into the field afterwards. Now, I am struggling to find employers who will/are willing to employ graduates with little to no experience. My question is how can I make myself more employable for lets say market access, junior analyst etc jobs? Cheers! submitted by /u/GrouchyEnd [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m a UK doctor considering moving into a related field outside of clinical medicine. I did a health economics module as part of my intercalated degree and loved it. Would anyone be able to give advice for doctors transitioning to a career in health economics? 1) Are there many former (or current) doctors in HE? What pathways did these doctors take to get into HE? Is there scope for part time HE alongside part time clinical work? 2) Which UK masters, if any, would people recommend? 3) What is the scope to go into HealthTech with an HE masters? 4) What is salary progression like eg compared to ..read more

Hi, I’m hoping for some advice or reflections from this community, thanking you in advance! I’m based in the UK and I have a masters in health economics. I quickly went down the public sector route as more of a generalist economist with a health economics background. I’ve carried out cost benefit analysis and cost effectiveness analysis but the more technical modelling components e.g. the modelling that determines likely utility changes was always carried out by academics. I left the public sector for a consulting opportunity as the turbulent government meant there wasn’t actually the opportu ..read more
