I am considering taking loan from my friends. 1. after graduating, how long will it take to pay back my loan? 2. what will be my average annual salary after taxes?

Hello, I've already been accepted into grad school for a public policy and affairs program. My goal is to fight against the criminal justice system to end mass incarceration and to focus on rehabilitation. However, I thought about switching over to social work because I feel there might be more job opportunities there. I also do not want to go to law school. I would love to work on criminal justice policy, but I worry about there not being enough jobs. It seems that most policy analyst jobs are related to housing and the environment. What do you think I should do?

I was accepted in both! I like both programs, but more in love with the idea of living in Italy.
Please advice which one to choose.

I think it is interesting that the hot button issue in the US is immigration policy but I have never met a person in MPP who cares to study it or focus their career in it (US or international student).
Refugee and migration, plenty, but not specific immigration policy. I actually think it is fascinating area and can synch into HR or legal work.
Any ideas why no takers?

Hi all,
For context I’m based in Canada, I’m just starting to look into pursuing a masters in public policy (economics streams), though I have a background in environmental urban planning. I’d like to use my masters as a qualification to access promotions in my current workplace (government), build technical analytical and policy writing skills, and open doors to other industries (programming/data science).
My question for this community is what kinds of pathways have you taken with an MPA or MSc. in public policy? Are there any analytics-heavy public policy programs you would recommend looki ..read more

The Brown MPA is fully paid for but may or may not fit where I want to go (international development policy analysis/Monitoring and evaluation). Duke's program is very highly ranked for that and I'd like to be in the South where I'm originally from. I'm pretty worried about the 60k debt but hope I can get a higher-paying job at Duke. I'm sure I could succeed at brown and the program is only 1 year but they appear to lack the resources and network of Duke. Also, I didn't like the campus all that much. Worth it to follow my heart and go to Duke?
