It’s been several years since I did my NC Lighthouse lesson with students. My third graders learn all about North Carolina and I have missed doing this lesson with them! I decided to mix it up a little and include a Van Gogh/Starry Night thread along with the space/color elements. Looking forward to seeing the results from this change!

My first graders have been learning about outerspace so I thought I would jump in and have some fun with foreshortening with some astronaut portraits. I made a step by step for how to draw. I think we will use oil pastels or crayons along with paint (mostly for the background.)

I recently came across the book, Kindness Grows by Britta Teckentrup and just fell in love with it. Then another art teacher posted a project of a tree inspired by Gustav Klimt and I decided I must bring these two things together for one of my grades.
