It’s time for another dividend income update!  My Portfolio got off to a good 2024 start last month with regard to dividends and increasing value, and it’s continued in February. Each month that goes by the growth and progress continues and it motivates me to keep going.  Time will do the majority of the work… with a little oversight on my part. Here’s a preview of the dividend highlights for my Portfolio in February, before I start unveiling all the specifics… One company shifted its dividend payment compared to last year, bringing some unexpected income to me this month.  As a ..read more

Just when I thought I was done with transactions in February, I fit in one more cluster of moves.  Since it was so late in the month, I’m just getting around to sharing the details now. The majority of the transactions stemmed from the first move, the sale (which eliminated the stock from my Portfolio).  I then set about replacing the lost dividend income while boosting five of my smaller Portfolio positions. You’ll recall that I am looking to either eliminate my smallest positions, or increase them in size to the point that they have at least a 1% weighting within my Portfolio. I do ..read more

After another good month in the stock market in February, just two of the eleven market sectors remain in the red:  Utilities & Real Estate – both are down more than 4%.  As for sectors in the green, Information Technology has surged into the lead, surpassing Communication Services – both are up more than 9% on the year… not bad work for just a couple of months.  The S&P 500 is up close to 7% Year-to-Date (YTD). Following the markets higher has been my Portfolio.  Unfortunately though, my Portfolio lags the market even more now after the performance difference betwe ..read more

Recent Buy – AMT

I was able to sneak in another transaction before February came to a close.  This move is hot off the press, too, fresh from today. I wasn’t planning on any more transactions this month, but with a quick dip in this stock’s price today on the heels of its earnings release, I decided to make my move. It was a small addition, but it keeps building my position… and my Portfolio. Let’s check out the purchase details…   American Tower (AMT) I only established my AMT position a little over a year ago.  After that initial purchase, I added to the position four times, each as successive ..read more

Hi all.  I’ve got another Portfolio transaction to cover.  Just one this time! Usually, I find myself executing more than one transaction at a time, but in this case, it was just the lone move. The modest purchase took place late this past week.  With it, I continued to build out a relatively small position. Here are the purchase details…   NextEra Energy (NEE) When I first initiated my position in NEE three years ago, I bought in hoping to see continued earnings and dividend growth.  Thankfully, both of those have occurred. The stock looked overvalued back then, but i ..read more

I made a pair of Portfolio transactions on the 2nd of this month, but have thus far neglected to post about them.  So, it’s time to play catch-up and get that done. My first move was to trim what has become my largest Industrials holding.  My second move was to take those sale proceeds and a bit of cash and add shares to one of my existing Information Technology holdings. The two moves will hopefully help me achieve a couple of my Portfolio goals this year.  Namely, reduce the weighting of Industrials and increase the weighting of Tech in my Portfolio. In total, the two transact ..read more

One month down in 2024, eleven more to go.  After a good 2023 for my dividend Portfolio, I began my quest to top those numbers this year. I start with lots of optimism that I’ll achieve many, if not all my goals.  I just need to stay the course, remain diligent in my investing, and I’m sure success will come my way. Let’s get a quick preview of my dividend highlights for this first month of the new year before I get into all the details… Monthly dividend income topped $1.4K (the minimum I hope to clear each month in 2024), but how much higher did I finish?  The answer is coming ..read more

It appears the stock market is off to a good start in 2024.  Seven of the eleven sectors have posted a positive month (thru 1/26), with Communication Services (+9.13%) leading the way, and Information Technology (+6.15%) not too far behind.  Real Estate (-4.11%) is the sector that’s the early laggard. My Portfolio is off to a decent start as well, but my early calculations show me already trailing the S&P 500 return by more than 1%.  Of course, there’s plenty of time for me to make up ground.  Still, to be trailing out of the gate is no fun, especially after getting out ..read more

Earlier this week I posted about my first set of Portfolio transactions for the new year, see Recent Transactions – HRL, CVS, SBUX, NNN.  Well, it’s already time for another post because I’ve got a second set of transactions to share.  It turns out that January has been quite busy with Portfolio changes. I’ve got another four transactions to cover, but this time the moves were spread out by a few days.  Once again, I made one sale and three purchases.  However, in this case the sale was just a trim instead of an elimination, and one of the buys brought an old holding back t ..read more

2024 Portfolio Goals

I’m back to share my Portfolio goals for yet another year!  For the most part, I’ve been successful in achieving the majority of my goals each year, and I hope that continues. Unfortunately, last year was a mixed bag of achievement.  See the following post for the details… Review of 2023 Portfolio Goals. In summary, I achieved 2 of my 3 primary goals, but only 1 of my 3 bonus goals.  It was 3 for 6 overall regarding goal success… there’s room for improvement, no doubt. Having complete goal success in any given year is something that has avoided me thus far.  Perhaps 2024 wi ..read more
