Gwenpool Strikes Back

There are three different types of clickbait. The first is Asshole clickbait. This is where whatever was advertised never actually happens. The second is Normie clickbait where it does happen, albeit in a greatly underwhelming and often disappointing way. The third is David Dobrik clickbait where it actually happens and might even be better. This books falls under the second. ☼ Clickbait is popular between creators because it gets them clicks, not because the consumers like it. Maybe the author didn't get the memo? Although I suppose Gwenpool does k ..read more

Last Knight On Earth

When I finished reading it, I was disappointed. Maybe I wasn't in the mood. Maybe there was something of depth within the pages and I haven't given myself to process it. I slept on it and decided that this was just not a good book. ☼ The premise was brilliant. I would have loved to read a story about Bruce Wayne waking up in a hospital never having been Batman. Who are his enemies? Where is he? Or, the biggest question of it all, was any of it actually real? Something like that would be pretty insightful, the story itself and retrospectively when you're sitting on your couch think ..read more

Wait, Is VOX is The Next Handmaid's Tale?

The Handmaid's Tale inspired anger. It broadened minds, electrified movements and started a conversation that would continue for decades to come. The mere idea that anything described in the book would come to fruition was as horrifying as it was possible. This book has been on our radar for an age and with the impact that Atwood's novel had on our society, it's no surprise that people are seeking out more books like The Handmaid's Tale. Many will find Christine Dalcher's Vox recommended to them in their search for similarity. Unfortunately, many will be let down as this book is more suited ..read more

How To Make Your Blog Professional When YOU Aren't
Fleur Henley

Forming a blogging identity can be hard. The question is; should we go full out impersonal so that people look to us as a valued source of information or do we make it personal enough so that it feels as though we're friends with the readers? It's a tricky line. Having said that though, the myths that we spread among ourselves don't make it any easier. There's this odd idea floating around that being personal also means being unprofessional or that having a sense of professionalism means that your blog can't be personal. But that simply isn't the case. Let's look at some popular online cr ..read more

I Really Didn't Want to Read The Handmaid's Tale...

I'm insufferable. No, seriously. Growing up and out of the phase by where you refuse to deal with 'anything mainstream' has not yet been a reality to me. I rarely read any books that have been recommended to me. Dipping into tv shows like Friends seems inconcievable to me despite frequently seeing memes about it on my Instagram feed. I don't know why I'm like this. Perhaps it's the worry that I might be let down or maybe it's the greater fear that I might love it but be extremely ignorant about it in comparison to those who've been consuming it for years. I don't know. I do know, however ..read more

The BEST and WORST of Edeline Lee: Resort 2019

Fashion is important. Before someone tries to deny this in the comments, just take a second. If fashion wasn't important; would we really own more than one item of clothing? Would we really be churning up dyes so that we're not stuck with plain, raw fabric? No, we wouldn't. Whether you like it or not, we've all been suckered into valuing style and runways / collections are just one way of doing that. Oh hey! A fashion collection review just happens to be the purpose of this post. ❝ Edeline Lee describes their ideal consumer as a woman who "doesn’t care about [fashion] seasons". Her main g ..read more

I'm Worried That This Book is Abusive

I would like to clarify that I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review. The key word there is honest. I'm going to be brutally honest in this review because to do otherwise would be shady as hell, so strap in as I take you for a ride.  I didn't really read this book. I mean, of course I did, but some of the poems were so long and cliché that they lost all meaning to me – and then, with a heavy heart, I skipped over them. I'm really very sorry but I've never been a patient reader. I can't spend my time struggling with one book unless it's of some academic purpose. Alt ..read more

Let's Learn How To Dress Ourselves

My mum on fashion goes a bit like this; she looks down on trends, anything that isn't linen and things that highlight your butt – but, honestly, that's fine. It's her own personal style and I can't really fault her for that. I'm a huge believer that we should all be allowed room to find out own style without anyone else telling us otherwise. Got an outfit straight out a magazine? Brilliant! Found all of your tops in our grandmother's closet? Also brilliant! I think what's important is that you find something that works for you and realise that style is not one size fits all. Don't cramp ot ..read more

What To Do With Yourself Over the Summer
Fleur Henley

Summer is a difficult time for many. For me, it's the break between school and university. For others, it's a rest from the tireless sludge of school or a chance to ask for a couple of days off from work. Of course this brings up the age old question; what do I do with myself over the summer holidays?  A lot of people turn to Netflix on their days off. I, myself, have been dipping into Brooklyn 99 for the past couple of days. Although honestly, it's been cramping my neck a little bit and it's feeling a little repetitive. This got me thinking, is there a way that I can watch Netflix ..read more
