A scuba diving certification with PADI (the Professional Association of Diving Instructors) is your one-way ticket to adventure in the underwater world….and in my opinion, the only thing better than getting a PADI scuba diving certification, is doing it abroad!
If you love to travel, why not combine the two and get a PADI scuba diving certification in a dive destination?
That’s exactly what I did.
I completed my PADI open water diver certification on the gorgeous island of Zanzibar in Tanzania, and my PADI advanced open water diver certification in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
I am so happy ..read more

This post describes SafetyWing travel insurance for digital nomads.
I have been traveling solo for over 10 years, and living the digital nomad lifestyle since 2018. Traveling full-time as a lifestyle is the ultimate adventure, and I would never trade my experiences for the world, but it definitely has its own unique considerations: like how will you manage your health, or unanticipated emergencies, when you are so far from your home country?
I have personally used SafetyWing for several years because they offer travel insurance designed to meet the unique needs of digital nomads (locati ..read more

I am not a Traveller. I tried to be one but I stayed. I guess that makes me a Stayer.
It doesn’t sound so romantic does it? Not something I would put in my Tinder profile (if I had one).
The first time I came to Mwanza, Tanzania (the place I now call home), I was 23. It was all deliciously romantic; the warm Earth beneath my feet, the ruby sunsets, the mighty, cleansing rainstorms, the giant, creamy avocados, the soft hum of crickets at night. I was also giddy and stupid, in the early throes of love with my (now) husband, so everything had an ..read more

Bush Walking in Mkuru, Tanzania
This post is sponsored by Tarakwai Safaris
The sun hadn’t quite risen over the peak of Kilimanjaro. Its presence was concealed by billowy streaks of ashy grey clouds. The camp was suspended in stillness, but the surrounding savannah had come alive, like a heartbeat, drumming each moment forward.
A low hum vibrated through the mist as the honeybees began to stir; though I couldn’t see them against the dimly lit horizon, their presence was strangely comforting. A songbird swooped from a nearby Acacia tree, harmonizing with the chirping crickets and croaking bull f ..read more

Is social media ruining travel?
I realize this is a pretty loaded question…So let me first preface this article with my sentiments of how much I have grown to appreciate the reach of social media.
It’s created so many opportunities for me to meet new people, network and collaborate on interesting writing projects, showcase my love for photography and share my adventures.
After nearly 5 years in the travel blogging space, it now actually helps to support my travel lifestyle….but, it’s definitely changed how I travel.
To be absolutely transparent, sometimes I wonder if it’s ruined travel all to ..read more

The island of Kythnos is part of the Western Cyclades and just a 3 hour ferry ride from Athens. Yet, prior to visiting Kythnos in late 2020, when I moved to the island during the pandemic, I had never even heard of it.
Instead, the big daddy islands like Santorini and Mykonos dominate the travel bucket lists of many international tourists. Unfortunately, with their fame comes the expensive prices, crowds and an overall ‘touristy’ feel.
That’s why after living on the island of Kythnos for two months, I think it could actually be one of the most underrated Greek islands.
Here’s why:
Why Kythno ..read more
