Last Updated on 25/09/2024 by kami I’ve been visiting Klodzko, Poland, since I was a little kid. Not only is this town, one of the oldest in Poland, packed with attractions and historical sites, but it is also a perfect base to explore the beautiful area around. Each time I visit Klodzko, I find some new attractions in the town and nearby, and it’s simply impossible to be bored in this region. A few years ago, I used Klodzko as a base to explore more of the surrounding area, and even with the week I had there, it was not enough to see all that I had planned. If you are short on time, you can v ..read more

Last Updated on 17/09/2024 by kami Veliko Tarnovo is one of my favorite places to visit in Bulgaria. This is one of the oldest cities in the country, its third capital (in medieval times), and the symbol of independence and Bulgarian statehood. With such a long and turbulent history, you will find many attractions and things to do in Veliko Tarnovo that make the city a must-visit place in your Bulgaria itinerary. I’ve been to Veliko Tarnovo three times so far and fell under its charm each time. The beautiful architecture, the fantastic historical sights, and the stunning location of the city k ..read more

Last Updated on 30/08/2024 by kami Most people who visit Medias, Romania, come there by accident. Located right in the center of the Transylvania region, Medias is an important travel hub, and chances are you will end up there as well when exploring this popular area of Romania. That’s how I found myself in Medias for the first time, too. I was traveling from Sighisoara to Sibiu and had a longer change between trains in Medias. Since I don’t like wasting time, I went to the center of the city and was quickly impressed with Medias attractions and how neat and pretty this place is. My second tri ..read more

Last Updated on 25/08/2024 by kami Varna, Bulgaria, is one of the most popular seaside destinations on the Black Sea coast. Even if at first it gives a rather industrial vibe, thanks to the largest port in the country, there are actually pretty many great and diverse things to do in Varna, making the city a perfect spot for everyone to visit. I had a chance to visit Varna twice. I enjoyed my first, rather rushed trip to Varna so much that I decided to give the city a proper chance and returned for a few days. And then I liked the place even more, and I’m sure I will be back then again! If you ..read more

Last Updated on 04/08/2024 by kami Most tourists who visit Krakow plan a trip to the nearby Wieliczka Salt Mine in their itinerary. However, there is one more salt mine in the area, which is even better yet less popular among visitors. The salt mine in Bochnia is the oldest one in Poland (created in the mid-13th century), and just like Wieliczka, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bochnia salt mine offers more attractions than just going underground. You can take the train or go for a boat ride, among other things. After visiting Wieliczka a few years ago, I recently had a chance to visit the ..read more

Last Updated on 30/07/2024 by kami One of the most beautiful places to visit in Romania is Sighisoara, a medieval town located right in the heart of the Transylvania region. And it’s no wonder—it is simply the prettiest, with centuries-old monuments and a vibe like time has stopped there. This is, in fact, one of the best-preserved medieval fortresses in Europe that is still inhabited, making it the top tourist attraction in Romania. Sighisoara was the first place I visited in Romania back in 2010. I was enchanted immediately and was more than happy to visit Sighisoara again recently. Not much ..read more

Last Updated on 23/07/2024 by kami Koper, Slovenia, might not be the most popular destination to visit in the Balkans, but this seaside city offers plenty of attractions, although sometimes you need to dig a bit deeper to find them. With a history dating back to ancient times, a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, and a perfect location to explore three countries (Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia), visiting Koper is always a good idea. I’ve been to Koper three times now, and even if I was a bit reluctant at first, I quickly warmed up to the place and returned there with pleasure. If you plan a trip to ..read more

Last Updated on 17/07/2024 by kami One of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Romania are painted monasteries in Bucovina – the region located in the northern part of the country, near the border with Ukraine. Even if you most likely need to make a detour to reach them, visiting the painted monasteries in Romania will be one of the highlights of your trip. The centuries-old monasteries are stunning not only from the inside but also outside, as their walls are covered in incredible frescoes, making them such a unique place to visit. In the Bucovina region, you will find many historical mo ..read more

Last Updated on 08/07/2024 by kami Merry Cemetery in Sapanta is one of the most unique tourist attractions in Romania. Even if the place is located somewhat off the path, on the edge of the country next to the border with Ukraine, it is definitely worth a detour. I have wanted to visit Merry Cemetery in Romania since I heard about it many years ago. But at the same time, I was slightly apprehensive about whether it was not an overhyped attraction that the quirky sites are often turned to. And while I felt it was a bit like that, the Merry Cemetery lived up to my expectations. If you plan a tri ..read more

Last Updated on 23/06/2024 by kami Of all the best places to visit in Romania, Salina Turda surprised me the most. This historical salt mine isn’t what you can expect from a site of that kind. Instead of the guided tour focusing on the background of the place and how it was used, you enter the underground amusement park located in stunning scenery. Even if you don’t plan to use all the attractions that you can find in the salt mine, it’s still well worth visiting Salina Turda. I was enchanted by the place and super impressed with the new function it serves now! If you travel to Romania, especi ..read more
