A Royal Balleting Dizzy
Dinosaurs, Donkeys and MS – My life: teaching, acting and living with MS

Dizzy and I were very lucky to have a very exciting opportunity recently. From the beginning of November, the MS Society was involved in a partnership with the Royal Ballet, where a group of individuals with MS came together from all over the country to create a ballet performance that would illustrate the hardships, turning points, and hopes that come with MS. The starting point was Cathy Marston’s beautiful ballet called ‘The Cellist’, which illustrates the story of Jacqueline du Pre, a world-renowned cellist, who was unable to continue with her career after her diagnosis of MS at 27.   ..read more

Dizzy Decisions – Ocrevus vs. Kesimpta
Dinosaurs, Donkeys and MS – My life: teaching, acting and living with MS

Dizzy and I have not had the best time with our MS recently. After our relapse after Easter last year, we had a further MRI in November, which showed another relapse and further new lesions. This means we are now being bumped into the highly effective level of medications available, with our choice being between Ocrevus and Kesimpta.  Now this decision we have found a little confusing, as these two treatments are very similar, and to help us decide Dizzy has been doing a lot of research into how each one works and the pros and cons.  For anyone who stumbles across this post, we are ..read more

Dizzy’s gone rogue! I woke up this morning to find no Dizzy and instead, this note left in the kitchen!     After many hours of worrying where Dizzy might have disappeared too and what she might be up too, this arrived on my phone!     Apparently she has already been to many countries, including New Zealand, Australia and Japan…and is expecting to back in England in about 10 hours…   She did say that she wanted to wish everyone a Happy Christmas! And that if you look up tonight, you might just a little donkey helping Father Christmas.   HAPPY HOLIDAYS! xxx &nb ..read more

Stuart the Seagull

Dizzy and I (well mostly me) got a new tattoo! Stuart the Seagull – in memory of my wonderful friend Eddie, who passed away towards the beginning of the year. Our best adventures always involved feeding the seagull, so a seagull seemed suitably appropriate. When Eddie was in the hospital the last few weeks, we took him a little soft toy seagull, who Dizzy called Stuart, to keep him company and was there with him when he passed away, so I had to call mine Stuart too, and I love him!     Although this was our second tattoo, I was still a little worried about having a tattoo with MS a ..read more

Asking for Help
Dinosaurs, Donkeys and MS – My life: teaching, acting and living with MS

Today we are writing about asking for help. Not always the easier thing to do, but in life, especially when living with a chronic illness, sometimes can’t be avoided. Dizzy and I recently had such an experience, and it’s reminded us that there’s nothing wrong with admitting when we’re struggling.      Our lovely, little play that we did at Easter,  had a second run at the end of August, which was super exciting, but I also knew that after my relapse I was being a bit naughty. I thought with some careful managing and planning though, it would be ok. And for the rehearsals i ..read more

Wibberly Wobberly Dizzys

Dizzy and I feel as though we have been on a little bit of a wibblerly wobberly journey the last few months. Our MS adventures have been rather up and down, and Dizzy wanted to do a little post on what has been going on – with the help of some photos mainly starring herself of course!   Firstly, we completed our final two rounds of Cladribine at the end of last year! We had a very sleepy few months as they munched through our immune system, but then  it was all going great. We had more energy than we could ever remember (still not anywhere near a normal person’s levels, but amazing ..read more

It’s #msawarenessweek and 7 MS charities have joined together and created the theme of #MSMakesMe to show different people’s experiences with it.   This is mine:   #MSMakesMe feel sleepy, scared and vulnerable. But as Dizzy reminded me, having MS makes us all brave, strong (even if I don’t often feel like it), resilient, and just all together magnificent.   How would you finish #MSMakesMe? xxxx   The post #MSMakesMe… appeared first on Dinosaurs, Donkeys and MS ..read more

MS and Railcards

There aren’t too many positives when it comes to living with MS, but Dizzy discovered just before Christmas that everyone with MS automatically qualifies for a Disabled Person’s Railcard. It enables you to get a third of travel, even in peak times, and for the person who is traveling with you to get the same discount. Dizzy has realised that they are being a little sneaky on the website, as it does not have an option for people with MS, but just click on any of the options and upload a letter that proves your diagnoses. The railcard should then be with you within a couple of days – ours was ..read more

Dizzy and I have been a little quiet this month, as a close friend of ours suddenly become very ill a few weeks ago and passed away yesterday. We’re feeling really blue, and though we would do a little post in memory of Eddie, who was always curious, never gave up and was the the kindest person we have ever known. We’re really going to miss him, and our little trips to feed the seagulls. x Dizzy also wanted to share this song that someone sent to us. It fits perfectly. xxx     Do you ever lie Awake at night? Just between the dark And the morning light Searching for the things You use ..read more
