Although I’m an herbalist who lives and breathes plant medicine 24/7, what keeps me grounded is that I will forever be a student as well – not only to the plants, but to the many herbalists and teachers who came before me and have graciously shared their gifts and teachings.
While so much of what I know has been gleaned from priceless moments in a classroom, face to face with my teachers; tasting teas and roots, making tinctures with our hands, and learning through detailed accounts of their years of clinical experience… there are so many nuggets of information I’ve also picked up through book ..read more

Remember how back in March & April, you couldn’t find toilet paper anywhere? (Kinda traumatizing tbh — I learned my lesson and now have a 2020 stash).
Well, it turns out the herb and supplement shelves were empty too after we all panic-bought Vitamins C-Z. During a time when it was nearly impossible to get prepackaged herbs and formulas, the OO community on Instagram turned to research on common kitchen herbs and foods that can help nourish our immune systems, and inhibit the secondary bacterial pathogens (like Prevotella) that can sneak into the lungs and become “opportunistic” when your ..read more

My dearest herb fam — after the shortest summer in the history of mankind (or at least it felt that way!), fall is suddenly upon us and the trees are showing off their bright red and golden hues as the weather begins to transition.
We’ve now entered the time of year when hands and feet get cold, our minds can feel sluggish with the shorter, gloomy days, and the winter blues can begin to set in. Seasonal herbal & nutritional support is key to staying balanced during any change, but is especially important during the drastic jump from long, sunny days to cold, dark nights.
Whereas spring –&g ..read more

THIS WEEK ON WHAT’S THE JUICE PODCAST…
Hi, pod fam! I have a question. Have you ever experienced something that seemed unexplainable or like more than just a coincidence? I’m talking lights flickering or hearing a voice in your head or constantly hearing a loved one’s favorite song after they passed. You might have thought, “Is this a sign?” or “What does that mean?” And let me tell you—if you find yourself asking those questions, the answer is almost certainly YES!
Okay, sooooooo….what does this mean??
This week’s podcast guest is here to shine a little light on how we all have a S ..read more

Chicken salad is one of Chef Nick’s favorite foods on earth. Not only can you eat it straight as a snack, you can spoon it onto chips or crackers, make a sandwich with it, and of course, make some chicken salad wraps (which is our household go-to).
Even better? This version is mayo-free and made with tahini dressing to keep that creamy, satiating element going strong. Plus, there’s a ton of different plants in here alongside the protein (which you know is my thing; fiber fuels your beneficial gut bugs and protein fuels your muscle, hair, skin, and nails).
So without further ado, here’s a qui ..read more

THIS WEEK ON WHAT’S THE JUICE PODCAST…
For years, my skin was a huge insecurity for me. I struggled with cystic acne, blackheads, and whiteheads (the unholy trinity) all throughout high school and into college. Of course—most of you know this about me already, especially considering many of you found me after I shared my acne story! To this day, my 2016 YouTube video about curing acne and my skincare routine is the most viewed video on my channel (and my 2019 follow-up is in the top 5).
I could talk about skincare and feeling beautiful inside and out allllll day, which is why I am ..read more

THIS WEEK ON WHAT’S THE JUICE PODCAST…
Life update: my mama is FINALLY home after 6 grueling months and we’re adapting to her post-COVID needs with help from her wonderful caregivers. It truly does take a village, and there’s no way I’d be able to cope without my community.
That’s why this week, I decided to release my episode with Dr. Robin Berzin of Parsley Health where we explore the very real gaps in healthcare that have only become more apparent over this past year. How can we move to a prevention-focused model of medicine where patients genuinely feel heard and supported? How do we ..read more

THIS WEEK ON WHAT’S THE JUICE PODCAST…
Earlier this year I was thrust into learning about COVID first-hand when my parents’ were gravely ill with the virus as it first hit the states. If you haven’t already listened, you can here the entire story here. This forced me to not only use my own traditional herbalism training to understand the pattern and energetics as I watched my parents’ symptoms both pre, during, and post — but it allowed me to connect with so many other practitioners and clinicians who were also interacting with affected individuals firsthand. I feel like I’ve learned mor ..read more

What’s your Good Girl Myth and what is it costing you? If you’ve ever struggled with self-judgment or feeling shame around your power (hi, who hasn’t?) then this episode of What’s the Juice is for you. And your sister, and your best friend, and maybe even your mom! This week I’m chatting with the lovely, Scorpio, feminist, cultural critic Majo Molfino, author of the new book Break the Good Girl Myth: How to Dismantle Outdated Rules, Unleash Your Power, and Design a More Purposeful Life about one of my fav topics: unweaving the threads of shame and s ..read more
