Telus is emailing some Koodo customers a special $50/mo 100GB offer if they switch and get a new phone. I received one such email offering me the $50/100GB deal. The email also included a promo code and validation code required for redeeming the offer either online or at "any Telus/Koodo store," though the email notes if you activate online, Telus will waive the $60 connection fee. While it's not clear from the email, the special plan appears to be a discounted version of Telus' in-market $80/100GB 5G+ plan. That plan includes 100GB of data at speeds of up to 2Gbps followed by unlimited data ..read more

Fido increases $34/20GB 4G plan to $39/month

Rogers-owned Fido has increased the cost of its 20GB 4G plan by $5/month. It's unclear exactly when the change happened, though it was likely sometime in the last couple of days. On April 11th, we wrote about Fido swapping its $34/50GB plan for a $34/20GB plan. In the days since, Fido quietly bumped that 20GB plan from $34/month to $39/month. Notably, that price includes a $5/mo discount for using Fido's autopay system. If you don't use autopay, the plan costs $5/month more (previously $39 and now $44). Aside from the price change, nothing else appears to have changed with Fido's plan. The da ..read more

Amazon’s Fallout series renewed for Season 2 — get ready for Deathclaws

Amazon's Fallout TV show is coming back for a second season. The first season of the TV show based on the long-running Fallout video game franchise has evolved into the surprise hit of the summer and arguably one of the best series on Prime Video. I've often described the Fallout TV show as far better than it deserves to be. It nails nearly everything about the video game series, including its silly tone, off-the-wall characters and deep lore, all while building its own unique world and story. https://www.instagram.com/p/C566RE-POPl/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=53a0be7a-72e9-47e3-9c63-70e7 ..read more

After several leaks, we've finally gotten actual pictures of Google's Pixel 9 Pro, confirming details from the renders and showing how the smartphone looks next to an iPhone 14 Pro Max. One of the images also shows the phone's bootloader screen, which shares some of its specs. From all this, we can see that the phone will be slightly more compact than the bigger Pro iPhone, which lines up with previous rumours regarding a Pixel 9 Pro and a Pixel 9 Pro XL. We can also see a speaker grill on the bottom and a USB-C port. All of this follows the design language of the Pixel 8 Pro fairly closely ..read more

Tesla recalls every single Cybertruck over faulty accelerator pedal
Mobile Syrup

Tesla is recalling all 3,878 of its Cybertrucks due to an issue that can cause the accelerator pedal to get loose and then stuck inside the vehicle's trim. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTS) in the U.S. states that the recall "includes all Model Year (“MY”) 2024 Cybertruck vehicles manufactured from November 13, 2023, to April 4, 2024," which is pretty much all of them. This issue stems from an unapproved lubricant that was added to aid in the component assembly of the pad onto the accelerator pedal. Residual lubricant reduces the retention of the pad to the pedal, acco ..read more

Bell's Virgin Plus once again increased the cost of some plans, removing a 20GB option and a cheaper talk and text plan. As of this morning, Virgin's website no longer lists either the $34/20GB or $25 talk and text plans. However, there are new options in their place. First is a  $40/mo plan with 10GB of 4G data. Virgin caps its 4G data plans at speeds of up to 150Mbps and also locks streaming video quality to 480p. Aside from the price and data amount, nothing has really changed. The plan still includes unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting as well as international texting sent from ..read more
