Deciding where to live

I (F21) am AuPair in Seoul and I am very happy with everything. We talked about my room before I arrived and they told me I have two options: to sleep in a room what used to be their working and clothing room. Or they rent me a small room/apartment nearby. In the first month until now I wanted to sleep in the „closet“ room, it’s full, I have a very comfortable mattress on the ground here and space between their things for my clothes. I love being with the family, nearby the kitchen, always one step away from a great conversation. But they still sometimes need to go into the room, they cannot ..read more

Picky eater in a HF

Hi. I’ve got an opportunity to spend 2 weeks in the UK to learn english and the culture. What I am concerned about most is the food in the HF. I‘m muslim so the food would have to be halal plus I don’t really like vegetables. And I think it would come off as rude if I just said it like I did here. What do you think I should do? submitted by /u/Deltartist [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Family travel to Hungary - Need AP

Hello! My family and I are traveling to Hungary from NY for 3 months for work. I have a 4.5 yo, 3 yo and a 6 month old. My husband and I will both be working and this will be the first time that one of us isn’t home full time. I’d love to hire an AP but I’m not sure of the best agencies - this is all new to us. Any advice from current APs who love their agencies, or families who have traveled to Europe and have had positive experiences. Thanks so much! submitted by /u/1nd1go_11 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time for read my text I just need to get this out of my chest! I’m an Au pair in my second year my contract is due on September but I just don’t feel ready to go back to my country. I know a lot of Au pairs change their visa for a student visa and stay with the HF but I don’t want to do that, I’m in my 28s and I feel like I need my own space before I came here I was living by my own and even though I have had a really good experience with my HF I now is time for me to have my own place but the thing is that I’m not sure I want to go back to my country, I miss m ..read more

Hi! I want to be an Aupair a second time, I already talked with my host family and they are happy to have me again but I need help because some agencies say that you have to wait two years before doing the program again and it has been only one year for me. Can I get a visa without an agency? Also, I did re-mach for my second year and extended my visa but I came back to my country after only one month because I had a bad experience with the second host family, is this going to affect me? I am from Argentina and my host family is from the USA. submitted by /u/Sad_Rub_1283 [visit reddit] [comm ..read more

Au pair in California cost

My SO and I are based out of California and are considering bringing in an pair in the next several months. We are aware of the ongoing potential changes regarding the minimum pay following the class action litigation but are not sure how relevant these are in California now / in the foreseeable future (we have heard conflicting stories). Is anyone here aware of where things stand in California? Is the ~$200 per week stipend still applicable? submitted by /u/ThrownSasquatch [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
