From someone who has been through pregnancy three times, I understand that it can be a whirlwind. Your range of emotions vary from excited and overjoyed to nervous and exhausted. I won’t lie, when Mom messaged me and told me baby girl was 10lbs at birth, I was so excited. There is something about those squishy babies that makes amazing photos. I think it’s a rule that the more kids you have the more cool, calm, and laid-back you are. That’s the impression I get from the Montei’s, family of six. The fall is such a blur. Every fall. Session, Session, Session, Edit, Sleep, Repeat. Sometimes I have a hard time processing it all until it’s over. I will always remember the last newborn I had before the storm hit. And by storm, I mean the coronavirus chaos. I actually postponed Elias’ session once because my daughter shared her cold with me and I wanted to make sure I was healthy for the session. Things were changing daily the week leading up our rescheduled date with a couple school closings and the storm looming, although us still not knowing what it all would mean. Baby Colette was anxious to enter the world, arriving a month earlier than planned. She spent a little time in the NICU but was ready to go home within a couple weeks and join her brother. I don’t get the opportunity to photograph high school seniors very often as my main focus is newborns and families, but I love it when I do. I had that opportunity with Lexi last fall. I used to work with her mom and she graciously hired me to take Lexi’s senior photos. Lexi wanted to incorporate nature and water. I met my match in artistic vision with my senior client Jess. She is a sweet soul and we fed off each other’s creativity to produce an amazing senior session. We used a vibrant and bright backdrop for a large portion of the session. She found quotes that she loved on the graffiti’d walls. We followed gorgeous light all around. Even a train made it’s way into the background. It was perfect. As most seniors, Jess is not getting the proper end to her final year of high school and it’s disappointing.
