No one wants to be the weirdo surreptitiously copying down someone's name off of their "Hi, I'm" sticker - or from the attendance sheet! (I may or may not hav ..read more

A decade ago, there was a lot more collaboration in the blogging world. Or maybe there still is, but I'm just missing out somehow - I definitely blog alone these days. I miss those days, as what I wanted to share out with the teaching world today would have fit right in with the "Bright Ideas" blog posts we used to do. But life moves on!  This past fall, I developed a resource for my junior grade classroom, as a culminating task to wrap up a unit. Not super original - bet many of you have done the same thing at some point as well. I know I've certainly done this before too. I wanted my f ..read more

Here's a little personal tidbit for you: I spent three months (not warm ones, might I add!) in the Magdalen Islands just north of P.E.I. for a cultural-linguistic student exchange when I was in high school. I haven't made it back as an adult, but perhaps one day! To explore this unique and beautiful region of Quebec in the classroom, also known as les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, here is a round-up of several books that an Extended French or French Immersion teacher might wish to borrow or buy for use with their students: (the links to Les Libraires are affiliate links) Tatiana au pays ..read more

Do you make French resources for your own students? Or for selling on sites like TpT, or even sharing items for free on your teaching blog, or just passing along to your close knit teaching team? Here's a  pro French teacher tip for you. Make sure you only use fonts that have the entire set of necessary diacritics for the French language. You do want to check this early in your design process. It's frustrating and time consuming to design a beautiful resource, and then to have to adjust every single text box because you forgot to pay attention to this little detail in advance.  Why d ..read more

If you haven't heard of Kahoot, please feel free to check out my earlier post, linked above.  I want to share some tips I find helpful when using Quizizz, Plickers, Kahoot or similar game quiz tools for learning. 1 ..read more
