photo courtesy Zach the Traveling Man My sculpture, “Mia Piccola Foglia” has been successfully installed on the newly launched Celebrity Ascent cruise ship, gracing the Café al Bacio on deck 4. Special thanks to Zach, the Traveling Man for his video that captured my sculpture in situ. I’m very pleased with the pedestal they chose and its placement between windows on the starboard side of the ship. They’ve also dramatically lit the sculpture with a lovely down lights. The sculpture is located at the end of a hightop table where passengers can relax with their laptops as they enjoy a coffee. “Mi ..read more

The next stage of my commission for 16 sculptures for a major hotel in Singapore is upon me. The hotel wants a particular type of marble for two of the sculptures, so I’ve purchased a large block of Nero Marquina marble which is quarried in Spain. Since Carrara, Italy is a major international stone export hub, the block of stone was shipped from Spain to Carrara, where my US supplier bought the block. It subsequently went to his facility in Kansas, via Philadelphia, USA, then on to my studio. The block of stone has ample dimensions both in width and depth, however the block was 56″ long and I ..read more

Now that I have completed the 12 identical sculptures for the hotel in Singapore, I’m starting the 13th and 14th sculptures. Once again, these are inspired from pieces that I’ve already created. Above left is a variation on “Sand Dance” and on the right, a piece fashioned after “Egg Shell”. These two are carved from cipollino marble, and I purchased a new block of this stone for these sculptures. The marble block arrived at my studio from Carrara, Italy: I’ve split the large block into pieces that are the right height for the individual sculptures, and here, I’m bucking up those into even sm ..read more

My commission to carve 16 sculptures for a prominent hotel in Singapore is progressing. I’ve completed the first 12 sculptures and above is all of them awaiting final packing and crating before making their journey across the Pacific Ocean. These are three of the 12 identically shaped sculptures that were inspired by a sculpture I carved a few years ago, titled “The Harp”, which is in a private collection in PA, USA. You can see the varied patterning of the cipollino marble that all 12 are carved from. In fact, all the sculptures have been carved from a single block of the Italian marble and ..read more

After almost a year of negotiations, I’m pleased to announce that a prominent hotel in Singapore has commissioned me to create 16 stone sculptures for their interior. Art consultants, Sweeney Co. are overseeing the procurement of the art and they selected me to produce the 16 sculptures. I have been tasked to create 12 identical marble sculptures for individual rooms and as the hotel interior designers have fallen in love with a sculpture in my portfolio that has already been sold, I am creating the new pieces inspired by that sculpture. The 12 identical pieces will be very similar to “The Har ..read more
