John Hughes and I've been photographing since I was 12 years old (now in my 40's) and I have a real love for it. In the 1980's I started learning photography and I quickly found a real love for this. But it wasn't until my photography teacher, A Mr Littlewood introduced me to book called Subway by the American photographer Bruce Davidson.

Over the past few years, the bustling and noisy coffeehouses have posed a challenge for me, overwhelming my senses and triggering my anxiety. Amidst the chaos, I longed for a peaceful sanctuary where I could find solace and clarity. Little did I know that the answer to my quest lay hidden within the heart of Liverpool, waiting to be discovered.
A pivotal moment arose during a recent appointment with my mental health nurse when he suggested a visit to the central library in response to my struggles with noisy environments. Despite my initial hesitations and excuses, his insistence propelled me ..read more

This past week I visited Dublin which was my second time visiting this wonderful city. I love living so close to Liverpool airport as £30 for a day return is crazy cheap and it’s even crazier that I can go out for a day on a plane.
The day was so relaxing for me, not many people around so I didn’t feel anxious, I hate to travel via train, bus etc and yet I find flying so relaxing and therapeutic being in the air still amazes me. My wife will tell you that I’m a different person when I’m at the airport. I would like to take the time here to thank my wife for kicking my ass out of bed and forcin ..read more

I've spent many hours shooting street photography in the first couple of months of 2024 and wanted to share some of my favourite photos here in this blog.
I've only been shooting on the streets of Liverpool as I don't see any point in travelling as the city is still new and fresh. Unlike most of last year I've been shooting alone and I'm finding that relaxing, I do miss being on the streets with other photographers as we can inspire each other, yet sometimes it’s nice just to play some music and be alone with my mindfulness.
As I'm writing this blog the weather is starting to change and it’s ..read more

2024 is the year of the dragon and the first time I’d seen the Chinese new year celebrations in Liverpool and I have to say they pull out all the stops. I’ve been to many of the new year celebrations in London and yet Liverpool’s celebrations go on for 3 days.
I had no idea that Liverpool Chinatown is home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe, the iconic Chinese Ceremonial archway into Chinatown is incredible and I highly recommend checking it out if you visit the city.
Sunday marked the grand finale which I didn’t want to miss, the trouble for me was the crowds of people and as I’ve said ..read more

Saturday 27th January a four storey building caught fire sending huge plumes of smoke of the city, so camera in hand I headed to the scene of the fire. By the time I had arrived the police had cordoned off the surrounding area. I was still able to get close enough to take some photos. There was 12 fire engines on scene and over 50 fire fighters when I arrived. I spent time walking around the different streets looking for the best places to get a good view of what was happening.
The building which was an abandoned warehouse was almost gone when I arrived and yet I was still able to capture som ..read more
