Whats So Special About Trees Anyway? Love A Tree Day gives us a change to reflect on something important. Trees. Nearly half, 46%, of the world’s forests are already destroyed. This means that every 1.2 seconds humans destroy an area of forest equal to a football field. We know that trees play an important part in our ecosystem, but did you know that “the rainforest helps to regulate the worlds water cycle. Trees play an important part in the water cycle, grounding the water in their roots and releasing it into the atmosphere. In the Amazon, more than half the water in the ecosystem is held wi ..read more

I think I’ve been saying I’m 25 for a least the past month, just getting used to it a suppose? Anyway, this girl is officially now 25! Didn’t think I’d be spending my birthday in a global pandemic on a lockdown but hey ho.  I love listening to and reading these kind of posts so I thought I’d have a go at doing one myself. I’d like to think I’ve learned a lot over the past 25 years, but I guess you can be the judge of that.  Photo by Andreas Weiland on Unsplash 1. Most of your friends will disappear.  Well that’s a depressing way to start but it’s true. I found amazing friends in ..read more

What Is a Digital Carbon Footprint And How Can I Reduce It?
THE ETHICAL EVOLUTION - CRUELTY FREE / ETHICAL / VEGAN
by The Caring Vegan

So What Is It? In a nut shell, a Digital Carbon Footprint is a marking of the energy used from running digital devices and the usage of digital space. It’s something I’m relatively new to and something I’m still working towards being more conscious about. I figured, as we’re all stuck indoors at the moment, maybe we can focus on what we CAN do rather than what we CAN’T. As we can’t see it, it’s easy to think it’s not as big of a problem as it is. What harm can your Netflix binge really do? Well, “The non-profit organisation The Shift Project (PDF) looked at nearly 170 international s ..read more

So lets get back to this. Some of you may or may not have noticed some changes in my life recently. A few months ago now my life changed when I came out of a long term 5 year relationship. Was it hard? Yes. Was it the right thing? Yes. It wasn’t my decision but I think it was the right one and the last few months have now been a journey of self discovery and figuring out who I really am, what I really want and how I’m going to go about it. I’ve decided to finally embrace who I am and all that I love and enjoy and just go for it. As if with perfect timing, Mal Paper reached out to me and asked ..read more

Now I’d like to think I’m pretty good at shopping secondhand, I tend to find what I want, at the price I want and with fairly good quality as well. I’m no fashionista but I’ve been buying my clothes secondhand for nearly 4 years now so I’d say I’m quite the thrifiting veteran. There’s definitely some tips and tricks to shopping secondhand, and especially how to do it efficiently and without continuing to buy things you don’t actually want and won’t actually wear. 1. The Fit Does it fit you how you’d like it to fit you? When looking for clothes secondhand I will look at all the sizes, including ..read more

Hello and welcome back! You might have noticed I’ve been a tad absent on this blog for nearly a year now. I can’t believe it’s been that long! I’ve taken some time out to really get myself in check and improve my headspace. I’ve taken up therapy which has REALLY helped me and I am so thankful to have a safe space to discuss whatever I want, however I want. Something else I really wanted to do on my road to self improvement was to get back in touch with my creative side. My brain is super active and I’m always coming up with ideas, concepts and plans and without an outlet I find myself going a ..read more

My Mirena (IUS) Experience

I had been thinking about switching up my contraception to the mirena for a few months now, I went on the contraceptive pill when I was 16 (when I first started having sex) because I had such bad anxiety about getting pregnant and it made me feel safer and happier when having sex to know I was protected. I have been on the pill ever since (I’m now nearly 23) so it had been a fair few years. I won’t go into too much detail about my experience on the pill but I was lucky to not have many side effects whilst on it. I’m not sure if it had an effect on my mental health or my weight, I was suffering ..read more

BRYT are a natural, vegan, palm oil free skincare brand who reached out to me and asked if I’d like to try some of their products. I love skincare and I’m always trying to find new products that might work for my skin so I was happy to oblige. My skin is dry and sensitive, my biggest problem area being my forehead, it’s dry, spotty, bumpy, red and sore most of the time. Recently I’ve been using Superdrug’s Vitamin E Night Cream on my face before bed so I was interested to see how BRYT would hold up. BRYT sent me 4 products to try, Remove – removes eye makeup, Cleanse – foam cleanser, Boost Ser ..read more

Decoding An Animal Testing Policy
THE ETHICAL EVOLUTION - CRUELTY FREE / ETHICAL / VEGAN

All of us at some point have fallen into the trap of believing a brands animal testing policy without questioning it. Why should we have to decode and dig deep into an animal testing policy before getting the truth? Surely brands should be open and clear about things like this, you’d think the law would make it so. Unfortunately not. The fact is, the laws around animal testing and advertising/transparency have A LOT of loopholes. If brands were required to tell us that they test on animals, do you think they’d make any money? Probably not. When you ask a brand if they test on animals, they’ll ..read more
