Seam-ripper to remove logos from products?

I'm considering using a seam-ripper to remove logos (patches or embroidery) from some bags, hats, and clothes. I'd simply like to have fewer brands and logos in my visual line-of-sight each day — and ideally avoid being a walking billboard where I can. Has anybody had success doing this? Any tips on what to avoid to ensure I don't screw up the product? TIA submitted by /u/brandenharvey [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Broken space heater

Hey all, My space heater has broken (the heating element isn’t glowing anymore nor emitting heat). I know it’s about to be summer so not a massive rush but I’d love to try to get it repaired instead of trashing and buying another for next winter. Does anyone know what type of person/business I’d take it to to repair? Feels silly calling an actual HVAC place for a space heater. But was curious if there’s handymen who do small repairs like this. I’m in the Boston area for reference but any insight as to what to look up to find someone would be greatly appreciated! Dresser is mostly empty. Everything is on shelves in the closet for clean look. Should I get rid of the dresser? It's a huge 9 drawer King size one, I've had it 25 years I'm rather attached, but haven't used it in a year. submitted by /u/Bookshopgirl9 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help downgrading clothes?

Hello, I’ve been looking into minimalism as life is hectic enough and with two boys now we’re swimming in clothing. I lost my father four years ago and since we lived together his entire wardrobe was at my place and we were the same size. So I have way too many hoodies, shirts, etc and have trouble getting over the emotional attachment of letting go. Anybody else ever have a similar issue? What was your solution? submitted by /u/Benjamin-Shanklin420 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I decluttered my makeup by two thirds!

Thanks everyone who gave me the push to declutter yesterday. I posted that I struggle to declutter my makeup even though I know it's expired and I don't wear it often anymore. I watched a couple of Youtube videos to motivate myself and seperated everything that's expired. That ended up being about 2/3 of it ? I thanked them all for being in my life and that actually really helped me let go the attachment, as well as taking photos. Now it all is stored in a cosmetic bag apart from my brushes! I do have some gaps in my collection and am looking to buy a couple new things, but I'm going to only ..read more

Balance between analog lifestyle and digital lifestyle and minimalism

Do any of you keep diary? And do you use analog version or digital? And what about calendar, do you use analog paper version or digital version or both? I have noticed that I have a feeling that I should do less things in computers, like keeping a diary, and use more diaries in paper. I have written previously in Day One, before that in Scrivener and when I have started to try to do things in analog diary (notebook), I always seem to fail and finally I do not keep the diary at all. Yesterday I started again doing diary on digital form. I thought that what the heck, I don't write anything too ..read more

I’m currently cleaning out a hoarder’s house

This man died at age 65 last week. He was estranged from his family and left everything to my husband. My husband and he were friendly, but not best buds. The man was a hoarder. We are inheriting his house which it literally full of 40+ years’ worth of garbage, cigarette butts, pizza boxes and mounds of clothes. We learned that he didn’t do laundry. When his clothes were dirty, he’d put them on top of the mound, go to Goodwill (2 miles away) and simply buy more clothes. Dealing with this has been an overwhelming nightmare. I return to my house each night, thankful that my house furnishings ar ..read more
