Noah’s Birth Story: A C-Section at the Lindo Wing Take 2

Trigger warning mentions birth, c-sections and NICU As soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I would have a c-section again. My birth with Oscar had been very calm and non-traumatic and I wanted a repeat of the positive experience that I’d had with him. So much has been talked about in terms of birth trauma and I will hold my hands up and say I’m slightly terrified of ‘natural’ births. With Oscar I’d had pregnancy complication at week 34 so a c-section became a necessity, whereas this time it was all set to be down to personal choice. I had a great experience with our consultant for Oscar ..read more

The Third Trimester Weeks 28 – 37 and what I packed in my hospital bag

I’ve finally sat down to write this post and Baby Brother (as we affectionately call him!) is now nearly three months old. I don’t think he even officially had a name yet when I wrote my last update. But the newest member of the Silver family has been registered as Noah Ethan, and he now has a passport and everything. We’re even gearing up for our first holiday as a four! I really didn’t want to leave my pregnancy diaries incomplete by not including the third trimester. Of course with it being such a long time ago I’ve completely forgotten everything and I’m writing this with my diary by my si ..read more

My Baby Shower Take 2!
SilverSpoon London | London Life

I know not everyone chooses to have a baby shower, especially if it’s baby number 2! But once you get to my age (pretty old lol!) and there are less opportunities to see the friends who have moved away and you see less frequently. This is my main reason for having a baby shower.., a chance to get the girls together and have a celebration! Fortunately, for me one of my best friends is an event organiser and once we’d found the venue together, Theresa from Hummingbird Events and my sister Jen put together the most wonderful day. The venue of choice was Biscuiteers Icing Cafe in Belgravia located ..read more

6 Positive Life Changes for A Better Night’s Sleep

This post is in conjunction with TEMPUR® but all thoughts are my own. Life in lockdown had significant knock on effects. For many of us there was a huge desire to change things up whether that be learning a language, writing a book, getting fit or alternatively developing a new mind set or positive mental attitude. For me getting through lockdown with an active toddler was the number one goal but regular readers will know that I’m also just finishing off a huge project to totally redecorate my home which was a choice partly born out of lockdown. I firmly believe that your living environment is ..read more

The Best Private Members Clubs for Families in London – Purple Dragon and Cloud Twelve Comparison
SilverSpoon London | London Life

London has many exclusive private members clubs … Annabel’s, Soho House, Home House, The Arts Club… but did you know that your child can join their own super exclusive private members club? A relatively new phenomenon these multi-functional spaces are popping up around London and they are absolutely priceless for both child and parent alike. Oscar is a member of two family private members clubs – it may seem excessive but we joined back in 2020 just before we went into the third lockdown when we thought these were the only places that would stay open as they were early years settings. 14 Reasons to Work With an Interior Designer on Your Home Renovation
SilverSpoon London | London Life

It’s been a while since I wrote a post on interior design, it’s something I’m looking to include more on my blog as with our current reno, it’s become a major passion of mine. Travel has become rarer for me since the having a toddler and living through a pandemic so I’ll be including a lot more interiors stuff on here from now on. In this post I thought I’d talk a bit about why I decided to work with an interior designer and if you’re potentially on the fence about using one, maybe giving you the inspiration to do it too. I spent months (years) collecting images and creating mood boards for th ..read more

Five Places to Instagram in London for Christmas 2021
SilverSpoon London | London Life

I’ve been feeling a little demotivated to write this blog, so there’s nothing quite like picking up a camera and going on a walk around London to get some inspiration – especially at Christmas. Annabel’s  Annabel’s private members club is famous for having the very best seasonal decorations and Christmas 2021 is no exception. This year, head to Berkeley Square for your photo in front of the incredible gingerbread house.  The doorman always dress appropriately for the theme too! So try and get them in shot. 2. A Whistle-Stop Tour of London with Original Travel

This post is sponsored by Original Travel One of the most exciting perks of being a travel blogger was going on press trips… I loved the sheer anticipation of going on such trips – meeting new people, discovering news places and being able to see behind the scenes. Even turning up to the airport was a buzz as often I didn’t know who would actually be on the trip until I got there. But now I haven’t been on a press trip for two years (pregnancy, baby, Covid etc) and I miss them! So an invitation from Original Travel to come on a mini press trip around London came just at the right time… You may ..read more

Oscar’s 2nd Birthday

Last year birthday parties were a no go… but we still had the best time enjoying a small party in Oscar’s grandparent’s garden with just close family. This year I was determined to have a party for him and booked one on the day of his actual birthday – 18th July. It was no surprise to many people when the government announced Covid restrictions would be extended and not dropped… until the 19th of July *angry face emoji*. What bad timing! Fortunately, I was able to postpone Oscar’s party to the following weekend and I was excited to have a very small celebration on the actual day. Though Oscar ..read more

My Home Refurbishment Before Photos

Over a year in lockdown and not being able travel has led me to having a new passion … interiors and home renovations! I don’t think I’m alone in this, ‘interiors Instagram’ has opened up a whole new world to me and I’m obsessed. Actually this interest started long before lockdown…let’s start from the beginning. I’ve actually been living in this flat since 2005… and 16 years later and I’ve hardly changed a thing. I loved the original design but now things have started to get very dated… the orangey toned wooden floor was on trend when I first decorated, as was the finish on the kitchen, the la ..read more
