BABY LED WEANING: HOW DO I KNOW MY BABY IS READY?
Max and Kai | Baby Led Weaning

Baby led weaning can be a very scary concept if you’re a first-time mum or have traditionally weaned with purees in the past. Baby led weaning really appealed to me when my eldest was born. I had heard lots about the method thru different online baby groups and our health visitor advocated it. Allowing my child to learn how to feed himself by eating the same meals just seemed like a no-brainer. In the olden days, mothers would have been advised to wean from 4 months with traditional purees. Nowadays the advice we are given by healthcare professionals is quite different. The guidelines state 6 ..read more

Baking and managing the kids are two elements that don’t really go in our house. I often bake when the kids are out of the house or napping. We use a lovely site by blogger Nicola from Mummy to Dex all the time for Kai and for Max. There is a large variety of different baby led recipes on her site ranging from Biscuits to Chicken curry. I find her site really useful and easy to navigate. Sometimes I will find myself a little stumped on what to do for dinner and Il pop over and get lots of inspiration from her blog. Her son Dex is 10 months and is in the full swing of baby led, so she’s been a ..read more

BABY LED WEANING- BANANA PANCAKES

When Max was a bub there was one thing I was a total failure at. The one thing every good parent should be able to give their child HOMEMADE PANCAKES!! I don’t know what the problem was, why did I struggle to make them. I would mix up the batter and they would just stick to the pan. I tried EVERYTHING, low heat , high heat, mix the batter up better, use butter, use oil. I finally just GAVE UP and wrote a post about my pancake disasters – I finally just GAVE UP and wrote a post about my pancake disasters – Breakfast fail This year I have cracked it!! I treated myself to a new frying pan. A fanc ..read more

TACKLING OBESITY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD WITH NRS HEALTHCARE

Since Max started weaning at 6 month’s, issues such as weight and obesity have always ranked quite high in my list of child related worries. Max was fed on demand as a nipper, which meant we didn’t stick to the 4 hours on the dot feeding schedule – he led us and gave cues as to when he was hungry. It was a complete no-brainer for us to choose ‘Baby Led Weaning’ instead of the traditional puree route when Max hit 6 months. We were met with a lot of criticism about how we would make him ‘fat’, by allowing him to choose what and the quantity of food he would consume. Two years on however, we have ..read more

WEEK ONE- BABY LED WEANING WITH KAI

The end of this week signifies the first full week of weaning for Kai. He has joined us for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner and he has been over the moon about it! With Max, I very much did a combination of Baby led and purees but this time round I’m not wasting my time or money with the pouches. I arrived at this decision early in the week, we were out and about and I hadn’t brought a lunch for the boys. We popped to boots and purchased a sarnie for Max ( easy peasy) and an Ella’s Kitchen pouch for Kai. Max wolfed down his lunch and helped Kai with the pouch (the boy doesn’t know when to stop). K ..read more
