FFXIV – Redux

Okay – so I bit the bullet, got a 60-day sub and picked up Shadowbringers. I had purchased one of the “packages” on a holiday sale a few years ago and got a character to level 14. So with all the stuff going on with Blizzard who knows what is going to happen to WoW. Best case scenario, someone with a clear WoW vision buys it out and turns it back into a spectacular MMO instead of layering on mobile game crap. I only had the one FFXIV character (an Archer) and I had forgotten just about everything so I decided to start from scratch with a Gladiator. Yes, you read that correctly. Just because I ..read more

I dusted off my “original” DK for Shadowlands leveling and maybe do some content. I decided to bite the bullet and level as Frost rather than default to my usual instincts to level in a tank spec because I don’t die as much. Another perk of running around in tank spec is that one usually doesn’t get kicked off your mount while taking that short cut through packs of mobs. Yes, Frost was painful at the start because I didn’t know what I was doing and how the spells worked. By the time I got to level 57 I was starting to get the hang of it. I could stomp through quests, pull 3-4 mobs at a time an ..read more

Blizzard lawsuit. Surprising? Absolutely not. However, what is shocking and very disturbing is how long this purportedly continued without any acknowledgement, intervention or action by all levels of management to stop it. It’s not surprising because this isn’t unique to the game industry or even the workplace – it’s everywhere. I’m betting it’s likely happened at some level to every female on the planet. When I was young I would shrug it off because I was afraid of being tagged as a “bitch” or “can’t take a joke” or one of the many other dumb excuses to justify this behavior. I don’t anymore ..read more

One More 60 and 9.1

Got my Warlock to level 60. That too was painful because I would usually forget to soul stone myself and make some warlock cookies. Yeah…the World’s Greatest Warlock lol. Level 60 – better late than never! I’ve been dragging my DH through the 9.1 campaign and it hasn’t been too bad so far. I should note that I still haven’t finished the 9.0 stuff particularly with Torghast. I can’t finish the quest to find Andiun because I can’t kill the last boss. I should also note that yes, with the help of guildies I got my legendary cape + an upgrade! Now it seems as though it’s all for nothing with 9.1 ..read more

FF14 – The Best MMORPG?
WoW Misadventures | A world of warcraft player Blog

I’ve seen/read lots of discussions comparing WoW and FF14 with arguments for and against the never-ending opinion wars of which one is the “best” MMORPG. Sure, we could debate forever about story, combat, raids, dungeons, crafting, PVP, etc. and don’t forget the good old hardcore vs casual nonsense that permeates every discussion. All of it pretty much boils down to personal preferences in gaming which makes the argument moot at best. Also, since the games are both so different as to their focus and target audiences, it’s like getting into shouting wars about whether bananas are superior to ap ..read more

After just taking a lucky guess, it turns out I hadn’t done a trial in “hard” mode to unlock the progression. Not only that, I accidently noticed this: Could it be any more obvious? Yup. Right there on my screen the entire time. All I had to do was click on it and it shows you where to go….. No matter how “dumbed down” FF14 makes stuff for new players, it will never be dumb enough for me. I think this officially makes 3 MMORPGS in which I have earned the title “Idiot.” I was going to say that in my defense, I couldn’t find anything that indicated whether or not I had completed a dungeon or tri ..read more

Well…I guess I’m done at level 50 because the next MSQ is locked because apparently I missed “In for Garuda Awakening.” The NPCs don’t have any quests for me, I’ve done the prereqs, I’ve backtracked, traveled all over, spent hours searching for help, looked through every map and pretty much wasted 6 hours with no success. Unless I want to start over with a new character or spend what’s left on my sub searching for that stupid quest I guess I’m done. Too bad. I was just starting to have fun ..read more
