Last week I introduced us to Canva. This week, let’s dive in. There is a big worm hole of possibility with this nifty little website/app/software. I hardly knew where I wanted to begin with you. Heck, I hardly know where I want to begin when I open up the app. But, to begin before getting overwhelmed, the secret is to make it tiny. So, to get our feet wet, we’re going to recreate a Gary V thumbnail. (Check out Gary Vee here) The post Canva Makes Video Thumbnails EASY appeared first on Inspired Video Marketing ..read more

Hey there, it’s that time of the week again, and that means we get to hear another testimonial from one of my clients today! I’m thrilled to share with you some words from Julie Quick, the remarkable owner, and operator of Cultivate Divorce Strategies.   [Julie]: I hired Katie to edit a video that I recorded myself, that was to serve as a lead magnet on my website. And overall, the experience was wonderful.  Katie was super gracious to answer all my questions leading up to the project. And of course, the final product was absolutely beautiful, really well done, and she was able to ..read more

Take Your White Belt With You

The first few years of having a bucket list, mine got up to 127 items long and it included reasonable goals like “Graduate with a 4.0” to crazy dreams like “Perform on Broadway”. (side note: achieved the first, NOT the second, although I have BEEN to Broadway…) One item was “Get my black belt”. To that end, I took a karate class in college and… hated it. “Welp. Strike that off the list. Never gonna get my black belt.” Like with occupations, life directions and other paths up the mountain, there isn’t just ONE martial art which I learned later when working with one of my OG (and one of my fav ..read more

Life Is What Happens When You’re Busy Making Other Plans

I wrote a journal entry today, or I suppose now it was yesterday and I’ve been musing on it. I just finished reading “Love in the Time of Cholera”, a recommendation from a good friend, and while it wouldn’t normally be my go-to, I found it thought-provoking. It wasn’t a love-story but it was a very real representation of what life may look like if we don’t stop to evaluate, appreciate or introspect. The truly beautiful bit is that we get to live into that quiet desperation, feel the feelings of regret and be steamrolled by the inexorable passing of time, and then we get to set the book down ..read more

Don’t do THIS with your Social Media Videos

I see this mistake made with business’s social media video posts. And their photo and text posts too. It’s disheartening to me. You are so cool! You have so much potential! Why are you doing it this way??? I get it though. We’re solopreneurs or we have a small team. We wear all the hats and perform all the tasks that require departments full of people. So we do what we can until we can do better. The post Don’t do THIS with your Social Media Videos appeared first on Inspired Video Marketing ..read more

Back in February, I was blessed to make an appearance on the illustrious Leslie McGraw of LesGo Social’s Instagram Pop-up series, “So That’s My Business”. We talked for an hour! We covered some really important stuff! But also… it’s an hour. If you don’t have an hour but you still want to enjoy the nuggets shared, I got the transcript and am sharing some parts here. Why is it called “So That’s My Business”? Leslie: You are tuning into the new popup series. Less popup-ish, okay, then I originally planned, but still. It’s called, “So That’s My Business”. So first of all, some of you may or may n ..read more

Video Marketing and Efficiency

Construction Wisdom I learned a very valuable lesson while working for my dad’s swimming pool company. While the muscles I gained picking up 94 pound bags of Portland cement gave me feelings of confidence, and the tolerance for being sweaty/dirty/hot gave me a “get ‘er done” attitude, if you’d asked me what’s the biggest lesson I learned, it would be this: If you need to go to the truck to grab a tool, what can you bring BACK to the truck? We need to make the trip, yes, but that is a minute or three we’re not getting any work done. Is there a way to make that time count for double? Or even tri ..read more
