The U.S. economy added 175,000 new jobs in April. While that’s lower than previous months, it’s still positive growth AND the kind of job market cooling the Fed has been looking for to begin lowering interest rates. Economists had estimated somewhere around 240,000 new jobs prior to the new report. The unemployment rate ticked up just slightly to 3.9%, marking the 27 straight months under 4%. There’s apparently a mystery afoot in Albuquerque regarding a surprise performance by a drag queen at a high school prom, and now death threats are part of the equation. The Arizona Senate has voted to repeal the state’s 1864 near-total ban on abortion that was upheld by the state Supreme Court last month. The law, passed before Arizona had even achieved statehood, banned all abortions except in cases when the mother’s life was at risk.
