My college-aged daughter studying cybersecurity purchased these magnifying glasses that are basically cheap "loupes" as far as I am concerned. I was impressed by how well made and functional they are and yet they cost her only $16 dollars. Emergency providers do a lot of close up work in settings where the lighting and visibility are often poor. During an international medicine trip to Honduras this summer, I performed a paraspinous cervical injection with 0.5% bupivacaine to treat a 76-year-old female with a severe headache for 2 months. The neurologic examination was unremarkable, and the history was not consistent with a subarachnoid bleed or cerebral venous thrombosis. Her vital signs were normal except for a slight increase in blood pressure.
