The World Poker Tour’s visit to Oklahoma continued through Sunday as the money bubble popped in their $3500 Main Event. After the Day 1B players were counted, the $2 million guaranteed prize pool was topped, by a healthy margin, and the money started flowing. After Day Two, a former champion of this event, James Mackey, will look to claim a second title as the chip leader of the tournament.
Guarantee Met and Exceeded
The only question on Day 1B on Saturday was whether the $2 million guaranteed prize pool would be topped. 293 entries were received for Day 1A on Friday, contributing more than ha ..read more

If it is the first weekend in May, that means that the bluegrass of Kentucky is calling and the Twin Spires of Churchill Downs are drawing the attention of the horse racing world. This year is the 150th “Run for the Roses,” the Kentucky Derby, and there are some clear-cut favorites for this year’s race. But it’s no fun betting on the favorites, is it? There are also some choices down the card that might be worth putting a couple of bucks on while you sip your mint julep in preparation for this afternoon’s race.
The Favorites
Earlier this week, one of the huge favorites for this year’s Derby wa ..read more

The 2024 World Poker Tour Season 22 schedule has traversed the world. In the next month, Asia and North America are on the schedule, with one tournament in Osaka, Japan, and another (arguably more notable) stop by the circuit in one of their familiar stomping grounds. On Friday, the WPT Choctaw will kick off action and is expected to draw a sizeable field for the tournament.
Oklahoma the “Hot Spot” for Poker
The Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, OK, will serve as the home base for the U. S. version of a WPT event. Beginning on Friday, the WPT Choctaw Championship will be contested, with a ..read more

Despite falling squarely in a gray area of the law, poker rooms are becoming increasingly popular in Texas, as is evidenced by the inaugural Texas Poker Open that just completed. With that fuzziness, though, can come problems. Recently, poker players have accused Legends Poker Room in Houston of rigging decks in cash games.
The latest comes from poker pro Shaun Deeb, who shared a “pretty disgusting video” of what he says is an example of a “mechanic” dealer who “isn’t actually shuffling the cards,” but rather arranging cards how they want them dealt.
Now, the video certainly isn’t definitive p ..read more

Before you read this, please be sure you are sitting down. What you are about to learn is so shocking that you might need some time to recover. Researchers from UNLV and the University of New Mexico (UNM) have found that sports bettors are more likely to binge drink than non-gamblers or those who partake in different types of gambling.
I know it’s unbelievable, but researchers surveyed more than 4,000 people and…there you have it. The trend held the same whether or not the sports bettor was male or female.

The inaugural Texas Poker Open Main Event is in the books and the honor of being the tournament’s first-ever winner belongs to Ren Lin, who earned $400,000 for his achievement.
Lin nabbed 400 PokerGO Tour points for the victory, which, when the leader board is updated, should put him just on the outside of the top 20 for this season. It is his third career PokerGO Tour (PGT) title and 38th career cash. Lin now has over $11 million in lifetime live tournament earnings and $5.3 million on the Tour.
Going into Monday’s action, Lin wasn’t in great shape, holding one of the smaller stacks of the 15 ..read more

In what seems like just an awful, awful idea and just a cynical money grab, Dave & Buster’s has announced that it will soon offer customers the ability to place bets on games. The restaurant-arcade giant will seemingly get around gambling laws because the wagers will be on “skill” games, not games of chance. Dave & Buster’s will not be the house or operate the gambling in any way.
“Gamification” software company Lucra will provide the betting technology, which will be accessed through the D&B app. The idea is to allow people – adults 18 and over – to bet a few bucks with their frie ..read more

All signs point to yes?
No official announcement has been made, but it sounds like WSOP.com might soon be linking players Michigan with those already playing on its shared liquidity platform in Nevada and New Jersey. Though all three states, along with West Virginia and Delaware, are in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) and thus can have their players share virtual poker tables, WSOP.com players in Michigan are currently separated from their counterparts in Nevada and New Jersey because they use a different version of the software platform. According to a report from Pokerfuse ..read more

Casinos are often known for the varied entertainment options they have. Sometimes they are concerts, but sometimes they are sporting events like boxing or Mixed Martial Arts. In Delaware, that “fight night” attitude spilled over into the casino itself as a fight in a poker room resulted in one of the pugilists being arrested for felony assault.
Bad Things Happen After Midnight
According to the Delaware State Police, officers were called to the Delaware Park Casino at around 2:30 in the morning. The report was about a fight at the poker room but, once they responded to the call, DSP officers di ..read more

Yes, we are a month away from the 2024 World Series of Poker. There are probably thousands of poker players, however, who will not be able to make it to Las Vegas for the festivities, especially those outside of the States. PokerStars is looking out for these players in announcing four different tournaments that will rove across the European continent at the close of the WSOP to give all poker players a chance at a “moment in the sun.”
