Ancestry dna https://ibb.co/RHKKgvk myheritage https://ibb.co/vkX88fX All the calculators on gedmatch & mytrueancetsry give an opposite result. Suggesting that the ancetsry kit is alot more mena. I don't understand the discrepancy as should atleast this be directionally similar. Which test is more accurate on ftdna? Sorry for the basic question ..read more

Matches tested at my level (Y-67) only show results at the 12 marker level. Why?

I'm so confused. Why is it possible to have many matches who test at the same level but those same people only show low-level markers in common? For instance, I'm tested at the 67 marker level and I have another match who is also tested at the 67 marker level but they do not show in my list of 67 marker results, they only come up in the 12 marker results. Many such examples. Why is this ..read more

Faster mutating STR markers in panels

Why has familytreedna introduced faster mutating markers in STR 12,25,37 and different panels. How is it justified that a match at 1 step of slow mutating marker is considered to be at the same genetic distance as a faster mutating marker in the same panel ..read more

Jim, I sent you a private message about the Barry family. They are my paternal lineage. I see we are related to the same ancestors. I would love to see if you have any info on the Barry family I could use from Carrigcluhir, Ireland. Thanks, Doug Money ..read more

Why are some testers not shown in the Time Tree?
Family Tree DNA Forums

For some haplogroups, the number of present-day testers shown in the Time Tree is lower than the number of tested modern descendants as per Haplogroup Story and Ancestral Path. E.g. R-BY19407 has 20 tested modern descendants, but only 15 are shown in the Time Tree: https://discover.familytreedna.com/y-dna/R-BY19407/path https://discover.familytreedna.com/y-dna/R-BY19407/tree What is the reason for such differences ..read more

Lack of Y-DNA matches

My son did a Y DNA 111 test as there is a family mystery about his paternal greatgrandfather. The rumour is he was Italian living in London. The problem is the test only generated ONE match and this was at Y-DNA 12 . I know that some countries have less testing than others but thus seems incredibly small. Can anyone give me any clues on what this may mean? The Hapolgroup is R-M269. I initially thought the mystery granddad may be Irish as he tested at 37% [I am 50%] but I know think this may be an anomaly given the lack of matches [my brother has 5,000 Y matches]. My son came up with 10% "Germa ..read more

Autosomal DNA results for MyHeritage transfer have been pending for more than a month

I've been waiting for more than a month for the Autosomal DNA results of the test I transferred from MyHeritage on Feb, 9. It has been batched on the Feb, 12 (Batch 1481). On the 1st of March I ordered an unlock which after a few hours allowed me to see the myOrigins page, but whenever I open Family Finder it says "Pending results". Last week I contacted the support about it (Ticket 1546702), but they haven't replied so far. Is something wrong with the transfer, or is this a usual thing ..read more

Y-Haplogroup I-M72 and DYS392

I got to know that my Y-haplogroup is I-M72. I think that haplogroup is quite rare. I have read common I-M72 haplogroup info in FTDNA common pages but I would like to get much more info about I-M72 haplogroup. Where could I find more info about that haplogroup? Another issue is DYS392 value. What can be concluded if the DYS392 value is 8? I think value 8 is also quite rare ..read more

Can shared Y DNA show different Halopgroups?
Family Tree DNA Forums

My father is I-M253 when we tested him at Y-111. One of his closest YDNA matches (4 Steps) with Dutch Patronyms from early US to Netherlands looks like our male line (according to family trees and triangulating with more modern autosomal shared matches) but the matcher is showing I-FTB6393- tested at big Y-700. I just upgraded my father's test to Big Y-700 and while we wait, I'm wondering if upgrading might cause a more specific "I" Halopgroup to show up?? OR are the somewhat close autosomal matches (we're looking at 7 generations back) and triangulations coincidental? I really thought I had a ..read more
